Something me and IR talked about earlier, and a way to get more people to join and also expand our own territory.. One of the ways we (or I...) came up with was a multiple match type thing. In this, we'd have various forms where people could fight, each with their own rules and style..
1. Normal Mode - What we have now.
2. Enhanced Mode - What we have now, but regeneration is allowed, and each player gets up to three attacks per turn and a fourth that the other opponent decides if it hits.
3. Honor System Mode - While refs will still be needed to choose a winner, the rules and attack turns are gone. Players decide how many attacks hit and can control enemy monsters in a more detailed, longer form of battle where the last part leaves an attack open for the other player to continue on. In order for this to work, players that wish to take part would have to edit their kaiju bios and include a fighting style. Honor system would allow regeneration, but removing limbs or complete impales.
4. Enhanced Honor System Mode - The same as Honor System Mode, but without a ref to decide whom wins. Battle would continue until one side gives up and leaves.
Talk about it and post ideas.

Interesting, but I do not like the idea of the Honor System Mode...
My reasons are that this version might lead to an abuse of the lack of limit on turns that may hit an opponent. While I am not accusing anyone of possibly trying this, don't get me wrong, the prospect of it just seems too tempting to pour a large amount of attacks in. These concerns are even greater in the enhanced verison due to a complete lack of a ref to spot and reprimend a player from placing, say, ten attacks that connect into a single post. (again, not accusing anyone of trying this, just stating a possibility)
If there are people who would go to the trouble of thinking of a normal fighting style their Kaiju would use, just to take advantage of the Honor System Mode, this may lead to a decrease in players, instead of an increase.
While I hate waiting for a ref, I will wait for one to ensure that I can get a 'fair' match.

There would no doubt be a rule in there about the other kaiju having to attack after so many connecting attacks.

...
In that case, I'm all for it.

I've played various games using the honor system with no problems.
Personally, I love all these ideas.

Eh, not too into Enhanced Honor Mode. You fight until the other person "gives up"? So what if nobody wants to give up? You just fight for page after page after page? Or until it gets to the point where continuing the fight is so boring and lacking in fun that you just don't care anymore and say "the hell with it"? Don't get me wrong, I'm sure people would use the mode just to show how big and bad they think their monsters are, but I can easily imagine these kind of matches getting really aggrivating or boring.

Well.. nobody would force you to play it.. And I don't see those players gaining many challeneges...

Personally, I like a greater degree of savatry in my battles. Any way to modify one of the enhanced modes to include a rule that allows limb removal and 'mega-damage' at the price that that automatically allows the opponent to inflict similar damage?

I know me and IR are both against that sort of play..

Yeah, but you can't really get the epitome of a daikaiju brawl unless you make room for things like that. Surely there's SOME way, through SOME system of rules that limb-removal and major damage can be allowed.

It's not cheap if proper rules are placed on it. It prevents a player from doing it left and right. With a rule like that, they'd be more likely to only try it during a tactical advantage.
In any case, it's not as fun unless some level of real damage can be done.

Kaiju Wars managed it, granted ther rules are insanely differint. ...You don't HAVE to play that mode. I'm all for this idea.

In any case, it's not as fun unless some level of real damage can be done. I agree, there should be some sort of way to do that kind of damage. Especially if it's against a foe that's got lots of limbs, like tentacles or insect legs. I know that doing an attack that cripples or nearly cripples the foe seems cheap, but... it happens. It's a huge part of real combat. I mean, what's the point in giving your monster bone crushing jaws if you're not allowed to crush bone with them? There's got to be some way we can logically implement that sort of thing.

Simple: Don't do it often.
Perhaps only one crippling attack or something every page or so?
