And, since this is all about trying to spice things up... can we members make suggestions for new match types?
What this entire thread was about, announcing new match types and members giving ideas for newer ones.
Saw it. Didn't much care for it. And that thing was being picked apart by half a dozen orcas at the time. In nature, octopi will willingly sacrifice arms if they need to.
2 /=/ 6
Point in stance, a giant octopus, just like Oodako or the one in TENTACLES, will be screwed when kaiju like Carcharius start ripping its tentacles off.. Not like a Giant Octopus would stand a chance in the Arena, but you get the point.
Well there has got to be some sort alottable engine that at least boosts the amount of damage that can be exchanged between monsters. Most honor system RPGs I've been to allow for similar damage, provided it doesn't happen in a single move, very often, and the tide is kept even.
That's virtually what Enhanced Mode does, Bio..
At the very least, it's reasonable to allow players to edit their monsters' bios to point out if certain apendages are allowed to be removed in game.
Tentacles, if they're like Biollante, I already said were ok.
I'm completely aware that your typical vertibrate isn't going to keep going very well if an arm is torn off, but some creatures have enough legs, proper circulatory systems, or simply are tough enough to weather the battle and possibly win, even if something comes off.
Once again, that's for the Fantasy Matches, not for the game itself.
Arena /=/ Fan Fiction
A monster, like MY King Claw, would be slaughtered against the likes of Queen Rygama or Neo SpaceGodzilla, but in the Arena, I should be able to put up a damn, valiant fight with the little bugger, starting to removie its six legs aren't going to help it.
In our match, Fenthion has sofar disabled Rygama's jaws once or twice. With regeneration allowed, that could amount to downright severing the linking muscles, and still have the same end result.
I numbed them with its saliva, even with regeneration, it'd take time for the saliva to wear off.
There has simply got to be a way to properly allow players to inflict more damage than a few cracks in the armor, to a monster. Some way to let players consent to having such things happen in game, within a certain set of rules.
That's what enhanced mode does.. And Honor System will allow a good 7 to 10 attacks per turn..
This isn't an argument. This is more of a debate, and since this topic is clearly intended to post one's thoughts on the new match types and to debate why or why not they should be used, I'd say I'm using this thread for its intended purpose just fine.
No. Me and IR have already given you a nice, fine NO! to limb removal and the reasons we're not doing it. You want limb removal, then go make your own RPG with it.
