Monsters you planned to make... But then ditched

Everyone's had them. Monsters you were planning and then either ditched or just lost interest in. Coming from myself, I've had many that had been worked in my head and then tossed to the side for various reasons. What's yours?

The Reaper - Was going to appear in the Deadly Alliance and be the one to destroy them. As expected, he was too be a kaiju-sized Grim Reaper. As the planning for Deadly Alliance went on, Reaper's concept just grew dumb and he was replaced by Demortis. Demortis would then, instead of taking down the Alliance, be part of it. Many of Reaper's planned attacks went to Darklore including the Necro Blade and the Dawn of the Dead attacks.

Marsh - The concept of Marsh was that a serial killer's victims, all hidden in a swamp, would pull their souls together to form a giant monster. The creature was going to be an even more tragic Biollante and even be designed on one of Biollante's concept pics. Marsh then fell to the side and Sage was brought to be.

"Mothrazilla" - No name was ever decided to this creature. It was planned to be an Earth Guardian that would have replaced Mothra and Battra after Thunder killed them. From the name, you can probably guess what it looked like. A Godzilla-based creature covered in white fur with big, blue Mothra-like eyes, antenna, and Mothra-like wings. The design fell and was then going to be brought back for Origins 2 with a new twist that, when enraged, could turn into a dark Battra-based "Battrazilla."

1st Q'thulu - Keeping the name of what it would turn into, the first draft of Q'thulu was much, much different than what he is today. He wouldn't have been from space and nor could he talk. His body would be a gigantic octopus-like humanoid (think Octaman). Colored red and slimy, the only trait this Q'thulu kept with the one you know now is that it would have had four arms (or tentacle arms) and a mouth that is hidden by more tentacles.

Su'thulu - She didn't get far in design. Was going to be in the second Origin Tales and be another Planetary Parasite. Has the same basic design as Q'thulu, but is thinner and had green tentacles and wasn't covered in rocks.

"Rock Monster" - Planned to be in the first Origin Tales and Deadly Alliance, this unnamed monster was to be a rock golem with no physical features like a mouth and eyes. He didn't get far and the rock armor concept was given to Q'thulu.

Cyborg Godzilla - Bringing back Tirran and Blaradon, I felt the need to revive another one of my oldest creations, Cyborg Godzilla. This creature was to be used by the Nebulans and be a cloned Godzilla outfitted with dozens of weapons. The idea of the Nebulans cloning Godzilla just for this reason sounded dumb and the idea of Arsenal was born.

"The Mecha-regate" - Was going to be in Return of Saberon. Imagine a sleeker, all-robotic Aggregate Destoroyah with more pointy parts. Was replaced by Rosie in the story.

Megalon - Was going to be another Nebulan monster. Had his powers down, but couldn't decide on a design. His spot in the invasion was handed to Dino Hunter's Veron.

Lightning - Not much was planned for him except that he was to be another Klenthurian-made chimera and be Thunder's brother. Would also utilize electrical powers and be based on dozens of animals. This idea was revived for Cell, but the Klenthurian origins and electrical attacks were ditched.

Shadow - Would have been a dark Frost Bite in End of Time. Not much besides that and the name would have probably been changed. His role was somewhat replaced by Darklore and the Four Horsemen.

"Mutant Dog" - Would have been a Bull Dog-based monster. Very ugly and very mean. Would have also had tentacles on its back. Idea would return again, but with some changes. He'd be a form of guardian and be bipedal, but still based on a Bull Dog. Was replaced by Chisim.

Tyrannopede - Made to go along with Inferno Rodan's Sauropede, Tyrannopede would have kept the same pattern of a red centipede-style dinosaur. He'd been a basic T-Rex, but with no arms and dozens of centipede legs going down from his throat to the base of the tail. Idea just sounded stupid after that and ditched.

Spinosapper DLX - A big, kaiju-sized Spinosapper Zoid with lots of guns and super-sized chainsaws. Was semi-replaced with the Chimera.

"Gupperanha" - Was to be in the second origin tales and be a Piranha-Guppy hybrid. Was an all-water only kaiju. Ditched because idea got dumb and already had Big Cattie.

1st Queen Araneae - Was originally posted here on Arena for a while until I changed her design to set her apart from other spiders. Aside that, she's still pretty much the same.


Ya' see, not every monster I think of gets made.

1st Levoshk - Originally, Levoshk wasn't going to be a marine monster at all. The original idea, which I sketched a bit, was for him to be more along the lines of an extraterrestrial caterpillar. Several of the concepts had him in a semi-bipedal pose, sort of like the Battra Larva.

"Amphibian Monster" - Never got a name. Was going to be a lime-green, bipedal amphibian monster. Very sleek and athletic, sort of like a cross between a newt and a tree frog. Was going to have a long tongue and suction-cup fingers and toes. It was going to have poisonous skin secretions, and I think I might've thrown around the idea of it having some sort of electrical attack. I never developed the idea much, and MM posted Swamp at around the same time so I figured it'd be best to just hold off on it.

1st Entity - I had a lot of concepts for TE, and only the current one uses the "living planetoid" theme. One concept was a giant clam with ridiculously impenetrable armor, which would fight by siphoning out jets of water from organic cannons on it's shell. Another was a big bulbous plant, with it's seed coat permanently attached as armor. It'd be totally immobile, but thanks to it's burrowing tentacles, would have near-unlimited range. Another was a big, featureless ball covered in spikes, which would float around and use psychic attacks like telekenesis and stuff to throw around it's enemies without having to actually do anything physically. That was the one which eventually turned into the modern TE.

CR Mecha Godzilla - I briefly considering using CR MG for Arena. I decided against though, for two reasons- 1. Against any regular monster, his attacks would be way too overkill for a fair fight. 2. His limited ammunition stores.

Jager - Pronounced Yeager. Jager was a squat, dinosaur-like tank mech. He can be seen on my DA page. Jager was going to have a shitload of really devastating attacks, but the problem was that all his weapons faced straight forward and none of them could swivel. Being a slow, heavy tank combined with that to make him pretty lame. Sure, if you stood in front of him you'd be absolutely screwed, but all you'd have to do would be to walk around his side and push him over. Fight's over. I also didn't really like the name, "Yeager" just doesn't sound scary at all. It was the best suggestion I got though, and I was going to use it.

Cyclopsis - An older creation, dating back t0 1999. Was one of my first batch of monsters, alongside guys like Valcanus, Gorgon, Scython, Gammadon, Devastator, etc. The original from 1999 was basically Orga, but with one giant eye, who could switch inbetween different modes of vision, like thermal and such. I started a redesign of him, which was going to be less Orga-like. Was going to be dark purple and a cyborg, with optical enhancements in place of the multi-vision eye. Was going to be mainly a tooth and claw fighter, but also could fire "Scramble discs" from it's arms, which were gear-shaped gizmos which would magnetically attach to mechs and transfer a computer virus to their main systems. He'd also have Drones, little unmanned UFO type machines that he could deploy from his back, which would fly around watching the enemy and the area, gathering information for him to use to his advantage. He was gonna have a new name, but I scrapped him before I could.

"Aussie Thunder" - For lack of a better name. Was going to be a big chimera of different Australian animals, mainly the Platypus, Kangaroo, and Spiny Echidna. After a sketch or two I dropped the chimera idea and he turned into Bunyip.

"Blob Monster" - A nameless kaiju, which was actually being planned for the second time. The first was for one of those old RPGs, I forget which. It was going to be a big red amoeba-like blob, which a symbol-like nucleus in it's center. It would have the ability to mimic anything it came into contact with, and could split up it's body to make multiple replicas. When replicating another monster, you could spot the phony by looking at the eyes, which would have nucleus' instead of pupils. I decided not to use it, because unless it was fighting multiple foes at once, it'd only be able to turn itself into a doppleganger of whoever it was fighting, which wouldn't really be all that helpful.

"Yin-Yang Dragon" - Also nameless, I messed around with this idea several times but never made him. The idea was that it was going to be a huge, two headed chinese dragon. It'd have two medium sized arms, but no legs, and would mystically hover and fly instead of moving on the ground. One head and half would be black, the other white. Each side represented Yin energy and Yang energy, which was used to attack via hand-thrown orbs and a fireball-style breath attack. The orbs and fireballs from Yin and Yang would be black or white, and would of course have different effects. By firing a Yin fireball into a Yang fireball (or a Yin orb into a Yang orb) it could cause a giant, explosive blast combining the effects of both Yin and Yang to do extra damage. Part of the reason I never made it was because I couldn't decide exactly what effects Yin and Yang attacks would have...

Super Xeno-Zoid. Was basically a more powerful version that would look more like a cross breed with a PredAlien and the Newborn (specifically color). The right arm would have had a long gun about 180 or 200 MM like Megatron or King Joe Black.

Hyper Xeno-Zoid. More like a a four bird winged cargo plane with toothy tentacles similar to Octalus with planet destroying powers.

Ikasi. I came up with this guy yesterday. He's basically a cross breed of Akasa and Ibuki from Neo Ranga with acidic metals, a more powerful gun, the miniture arms turning into cannons identical to Double X Gundam's Twin Staellite Cannon. Add seven disguises that look like Homer Simpson, Bender, Stan Smith, Peter Griffin, Shake, Chod, and Captain Hero and giant drills based on an anime Fredrex00 showed me I forget the name of and bam.


The reason I ditched them was because they were too powerful for the arena. That and I just plain suck at weight estimation.

-Psycho-kinetic monster-
Basically a small, frail reptilian being with a big head and shrunken appendages that used immense psionic talents to put the competition down. Was using Psion as a placeholder name, but I could never get the design down right.

-Golemech-
As seen on my DA page. Didn't have enough armor or weapons for my tastes, plus I want to rework one of the arms.

-Arcana-
A celestail angel/dragon monster that uses "magic" based attacks, including a weapon called Judgement Strike, which basically did half the damage Arcana had sustained back to an opponent. Couldn't get the design down right, although he did have ram's horns, feathery wings and glowing tattoos.

-Blitzen-
A counterpart to Jericho and Cerberus, designed to be a fast, assassin type monster. I had a doodle of him on DA, but I really don't like the final look.

-Hayabusa-
Another DA doodle that just didn't work out. A cyborg reptialian with a particle cannon and grenade launcher.

-AC Superweapon mech-
Basically a giant machine of some kind with weapon systems inspired by all the Ace Combat superweapons. Was going to have an "airplane" look, kind of like G1 Starscream when in robot mode. Seemed really cheesy.

-Richter-
A chimera from one of MM's old RPGs. This one was a mole, gator, sturgeon hybrid with a powerful shockwave attack. Heavily armored and a decent brawler. Already got Harbinger though, so I didn't see the point of bringing him over, although I really liked the name.

-Un-named sea creature-
I was thinking of starting a jont fan-fic project with some of TKs better writers detaling a "Cloverfield-esque" attack on a city by a large sea monster. He had a crocodilian head with massive forarms and diminished hind legs, plus a really long tail, kind of like a mutant Cronosaur or something. Couldn't quite get the design down right.

-Vanguard-
Another cyber-dragon, this time with giant swingblades affixed to his arms as well as a mass-inverter weapon. Used in an old RPG or two, but never really beyond that. Seemed kind of lame now.

Only two for me:

Tempor and Tampor: Schism Two monsters who acted as one. The brain of both was identical, and regarded the two as we regard out arms more or less.

One would be a purely physical fighter, while the other a beam spammer. I just kind of dropped the concept.

Nycodon: An alien chimera. He was an ancient legend of an alien race, the Pyo if I recall correctly. When a person died, their souk was brought to Nycodon, who then passed judgment on them. If they lived a good life, Nycodon let them pass to the Pyo afterlife. If they didn't he would devour their soul, and then crap it back out to the planet into a lower lifeform as punishment.

I really like the back story, but just never finished him.

DAMN YOU MONSTER MASTER! I had come up with an almost identical concept to use in the sequel to Kaiju Uprising.
