Divinity vs The Hybrid
Arena: Artic Shelf
Rules: The Hybrid is scaled to 100 meters, 46,000 tons, and a 200 meter wingspan.
Chill artic winds swept across the icy expanse as the cybernetic dragon touched down. Divinity, like so many others before him, had found himself inexplicably drawn to this world from the inside of ADAM Group headquarters. All attempts at communicating with other humans had been deemed futile, as no outside signals had been intercepted. Currently, despite his massive frame and incredible flightspeed, the winds were too strong for him to leave this ice shelf, and he had decided to wait out the storm, when something caught his attention.
A glowing sphere of light opened a rift in the skies overhead, seemingly dissipating the storm with it. From the rift, massive demonic wings heralded the arrival of a strange amalgam, even stranger than Divinity himself. A slightly humanoid cyborg, bearing traits of Ghidorah and Godzilla, emerged from the rift and landed heavily on the ground, splintering ice on impact. This new creature didn’t seem nearly as disoriented as Divinity had been, and quickly stood, before roaring at the cybernetic guardian. A massive, spiraling lance with a double-pronged end appeared out of thin air between the hands of this monstrosity.
Divinity roared in answer to the newcomer’s challenge, as rays of light shot from his right arm unit, before converging into a bladed weapon that shimmered with prismatic effect. A quick gust of wind howled across the expanse as the two stared each other down. The Hybrid broke first, charging forward on the ice with incredible speed, leaving shattered footprints as he went. He lunged forward with the Lance, as Divinity countered with his Broadsword. Sparks flew as the weapons clashed, bit neither side was yielding. However, the Hybrid’s own immense strength was giving him and edge, as he pushed Divinity back. The dragon’s claws tore furrows in the ice, when suddenly, the Hybrid lashed out with one leg, striking Divinity in the knees. The guardian buckled, as the Hybrid de-materialized his lance and grabbed his foe by the throat. With a mighty roar, he lifted his opponent up and effortlessly tossed him several hundred meters away into the side of a cliff. Ice crashed around him, burying the guardian in frozen shrapnel, as the Hybrid took to the skies, headed right for his prey.
But Divinity was not one to be trifled with either. A massive, spiraling gout of fire erupted from the rubble, vaporizing the ice and freeing Divinity. His cybernetic eye flashed as he scanned the rapidly approaching Hybrid, probing for apparent weaknesses. Divinity launched a beam of thermal energy at the approaching enemy, but the Hybrid effortlessly dodged...jut as Divinity had predicted. At the last second, the guardian cyborg jetted to the left, as the Hybrid barreled past, before whipping his tail around and burying the feathered appendage in the Hybrid’s shoulders. The amalgam howled as Divinity whipped the tail back, slinging the Hybrid into the same cliff, leaving a smashed impression on impact, before using his own momentum to drive the Broadsword into the Hybrid’s gut. The prismatic energy blade separated armor and flesh with ease, but it was far from enough to put his foe out of commission. A burning wave of energy erupted from the Hybrid’s body, catapulting Divinity backwards, leaving a burned and charred line across his torso. He grimaced as his organic components burned, but would likewise not let that stop him.
The Hybrid launched himself forward, arms flying behind him as he went. However, rather than simply attempt to melee Divinity, as the guardian had predicted, the Hybrid lashed his arms out, and bolts of lightning fell from the heavens, spearing Divinity where he stood. Strange energy crackled over the dragon as he roared in pain. But by then, the Hybrid was upon him, pinning him to the ice shelf before tearing away at his face with his claw tipped hands. Bloody furrows, combined with twisted and rent metal were a true testament to the Hybrid’s power, as the guardian struggled gamely beneath his grip. The cyborg lashed out with his tail, burying the blade in the Hybrid’s back. The Hybrid screeched in surprise as he was once again tossed aside. The damage had been done, but now Divinity had a much better idea of what his foe was capable of, and his own lightning fast processors had partially devised a plan.
The wind howled around them, gathering in intensity, as the Hybrid re-materialized his Lance, before lunging forward again, ready to spear the dragon cyborg through the heart. Divinity raised his arms, as a powerful shield formed their, invisible to his foe. But the Hybrid charged on, and Divinity roared in confusion and agony as the Lance penetrated both shield and armor, pinning his arms together. Had the dragon seen this coming, he could have countered it, but the Lance, as well as the Hybrid, seemed to have many more tricks up his sleeve than initially anticipated. The Hybrid snarled in rage as he pushed the Lance forward. It had missed the vital operating systems in the arms, but the twin tines were still decidedly too close to his chest for comfort. Divinity hit upon a plan, however, and quickly counterattacked, launching a stream of flames at the Hybrid from close range. The Hybrid howled in agony as the powerful blast melted the armor plating on his face, and the smoke obscured his vision. But rather than stopping there, Divinity spread his wings wide, as glassy feathers launched themselves like missiles at the Hybrid.
These shimmering projectiles drilled into the Hybrid’s body before exploding, sending more armor plating flying. The Hybrid clutched his smoking chest, as the Lance disappeared, freeing the dragon’s arms. He flexed them experimentally, and decided that they were still in functioning order, before activating his Broadsword and lashing out at the Hybrid. The prismatic energy blade was poised to carve a smoking gash across the amalgam’s chest, but was suddenly blocked by the appearance of a glowing orange field, composed of multiple octagonal rings. The field shimmered as the Hybrid roared, before the Hybrid ducked low and swept his foot across the legs of his enemy, sending crashing to the ice. The Hybrid roared as he leapt into the air, ready to bring his form crashing back down on his foe. Divinity roared as he launched another gout of fire, but the AT Field once again came into play, the flames washing harmlessly over its surface. The boosters in Divinity’s wings activated, sending the cyborg skating backwards across the ice, mere seconds before the Hybrid smashed into the ice, leaving a small crater on impact.
Divinity managed to get airborne, as the Hybrid took off after him on foot, before leaping into the air after his enemy, demonic wings sprouting as he ascended. An aerial battle soon took place, and it was quickly apparent that the Hybrid was much faster, but not quite as maneuverable. Divinity jetted aside once again as the Hybrid darted past, the Lance in his grip tearing twin furrows in the armor along his chest as he passed. Divinity had no intention of being nickel and dimed to death, and prepared for a new tactic. As the Hybrid turned to charge him once again, Divinity matched him in a head on assault. The gun on his left arm glowed with an inner light as they began to charge, but Divinity’s focus was on the Lance. The two drew close, and Divinity used his jets to tilt backwards, gripping the Lance in one hand, halting it mere inches from his armored chest. The Hybrid roared in frustration, but this quickly died off as Divinity raised his gun barrel and fired at point blank range. Several mist-like orbs detonated on the Hybrid’s chest and wings, the powerful acid concentrations within them melting away at the dense armor plating.
The Hybrid shrieked in fury as he forced the Lance forward, overcoming Divinity with his own god-like strength. Divinity roared as the Lance speared his chest, penetrating deeply into his armored flesh. Divinity tried to counter with additional rounds from his cannons, but the AT Field blocked all projectiles. The guardian tried to wrench the Lance from his chest as the two struggled to stay airborne, but to no avail. Even though he seemed to be able to stop it from in its tracks, the lance would not budge for him. The Hybrid caused the Lance to vanish as he kicked Divinity in the chest, driving the two of them apart. The guardian grimaced as the two continued to spar. The Hybrid appeared to have the immediate advantage with his combination of weapons and defenses. But Divinity was smart. He could take this foe. All he needed was a way. Then it hit him.
His wings flapped once, sending him soaring skyward, as he began blasting the terrain with his thermal beam. The Hybrid deftly dodged and ran, avoiding damage, seemingly taunting the dragon with each move. But the cyborg had other plans. As the Hybrid sidestepped a beam, several acid orbs impacted his back, melting through the armor there. The Hybrid howled in agony as his armor disintegrated beneath the onslaught. As he was recovering, Divinity slammed into him, and hard, carrying the unit along for the ride as he quickly turned skyward, before throwing the body down to the ice. Where it had once been hardened, it was now a slushy mess, thanks to his heat beam. The Hybrid smashed through the ice, disappearing beneath it, as Divinity raised his arms. Massive rings of energy erupted from his gauntlets and gathered in the skies overhead, as a swirling vortex of energy formed between them. He could track the Hybrid, and was timing his attack just so.
The amalgam burst from the ice, freezing water dripping from his savage body, as his wings beat the arctic air. But by then, Divinity had unleashed his attack, as a massive bolt of energy tore the heavens asunder, illuminating the Hybrid in a blinding flash, before a massive explosion tore the land apart. The Hybrid shrieked as the burning waves of energy vaporized ice and water alike. The vortex swirled into the skies, as Divinity landed to watch the show. When it was all over, there was a massive hole in the ice where his foe had once been. Steam formed in the chill night air, and no sign of the Hybrid was detected. But his Deity Vision quickly corrected this assumption, as the Hybrid surfaced, wings beating the air momentarily before setting their own down on land. The Hybrid’s armor was charred and blackened in most places, utterly gone in others, revealing the shiny burnt flesh beneath it. The Hybrid howled in rage, and Divinity answered his challenge, believing he had the upper hand now. But he was sadly mistaken. The Hybrid burst forward at speeds his damaged body could not have alluded to. Divinity roared as the monster tackled him to the ground, sending them both skidding across the ice, leaving a bloody furrow in their wake. The Hybrid wailed on divinity, tearing into his chest with savage ferocity never before experienced by the guardian. He screamed in agony as the Hybrid tore one of his chest plates off, a spray of blood and lubricants coating both combatants. The Hybrid roared as his claws quested for the heart of his enemy, but Divinity was not about to be stopped now.
His wings closed around the Hybrid, as crystalline feathers speared and exploded on all sides, tearing open more wounds in the unprotected flesh of the amalgam. The wounds inflicted were healing, but not fast enough to deal with Divinity’s assault. The cyber guardian roared as he bit down on the Hybrid’s throat, tearing into it with the savage ferocity of his ancient self. The Hybrid responded in kind, clamping his own massive fangs into the long neck of the dragon. Blood stained the ice all around the dueling trio, as neither was ready to accede to the other. But Divinity, like always, had a backup plan. His engines activated, sending them skating across the ice, before the dragon, in an effort worthy of his guardian status, flipped over, causing the Hybrid to be dragged along the ice at Mach 2. Needless to say, this did not go so well for the Hybrid, as jagged splinters of ice imbedded themselves in his exposed organics.
Divinity released his catch, sending the Hybrid sliding for a few hundred more meters, as he set himself down. The Hybrid emerged later, his wounds slowly healing, but still noticeably damaged. The two stared each other down, knowing that all it would take was one final assault to end the other’s reign.
The Hybrid charged first, but Divinity was waiting for him. Even with his enhanced speeds, the Hybrid was slowed some by his wounds. And that made all the difference. Divinity's chest plates opened, as a pulse of energy surged through his body. The Hybrid leapt to attack, but was repulsed by a greyish-white barrier of energy that appeared before the cyborg. He collapsed before his foe, as Divinity threw his head back, roaring to the heavens in utter defiance of this beast. The glowing power in his chest erupted outwards, vaporizing most of the ice shelf in its path, as the Hybrid screamed in agony, his body being ripped apart at the molecular level. While almost instantaneous in effect, time seemed to slow down for the monsters as the beam tore the Hybrid apart. Divinity could feel his own body slowly sliding backwards, his chest coming apart from the raw power he weilded. But the Hybrid would not have submitted before anything less.
In an instant, the attack ceased, leaving a steaming cloud of vapor in it's wake. The Hybrid was gone, leaving a weakened but victorious Divinity behind. The dragon roared weakly in triumph as he collapsed, succumbing to his wounds. He might not survive this strange new world after all.
