Scorpius vs Die Spinne
Arena: Desert Wasteland
Rules: None
The harsh winds whipped sand across the hardpan of a remote desert wasteland. Like all the other areas of this world, it was uninhabited by man or beast. However, a newcomer soon claimed the area as his own, and began his endless search for food and nourishment. Scorpius, the massive black scorpion, had been transported to this world like so many other creatures, although it wasn’t all that different from the world he had left behind. However, after hours of searching had yielded no sources of food, and the desert expanse was seemingly endless, Scorpius began to grow restless. This area was nothing but mesas and canyons, and not a one of them held food. Suddenly, he sensed the approach of something…something big.
Die Spinne, another titanic arachnid, scuttled across the desert, having found himself here inexplicably. This new world was and endless expanse of wasteland, devoid of life or anything worth his efforts for that matter. However, he too sensed the approach of a creature, rivaling himself in size. He halted several hundred meters away and sized up the situation. Before him, a scorpion of immense proportions stood, although it was still smaller than himself. The scorpion was apparently alerted to his presence, as he clacked his claws in response to Die Spinne’s approach. With the element of surprise out, and both sides driven by fierce hunger, a battle was inevitable.
With a roar, Scorpius charged forward, pincer claws open wide and stinger raised. His spiked legs dug holes in the hardpan as he rushed for, propelled by eight well armored legs. Die Spinne reared up on his hind legs, making himself seem larger, before charging forward as well. The two clashed amidst the open desert, as Scorpius brought his claws into play, clamping them down on Die Spinne’s forelimbs. The spider shrieked as the awesome crushing power of such weapons revealed themselves, splintering his exoskeletal armor like matchsticks. The patches on his cephalothorax glowed brightly as his eyes flashed green. Scorpius pressed the assault and prepared to bring his stinger down into Die Spinne’s back, when a brilliant flash of light covered his face, before exploding. Scorpius roared in fury as the blast sizzled his armor, forcing him to release his grip on the spider.
Die Spinne chattered angrily as he brought two more legs into play, stabbing them down into Scorpius’ back, taking advantage of the enemy’s momentary pain. His mandibles oozed with a potent venom, which he prepared to inject into Scorpius’ back, when the arachnid beneath him retaliated releasing a spray of corrosive acid from the tip of his stinger. Dine Spinne was fortunate enough to have his head out of the way, but the spray still coated his abdomen, liquefying tissue as it melted through his armor. The spider shrieked and the scorpion roared, neither one willing to relinquish their grip. However, when Scorpius prepared to release another gout of acid, Die Spinne disengaged and seemed to zip away backwards, having used his webbing to drag himself back towards a nearby mesa. The acid gout splashed harmlessly on the desert hardpan and began to eat through the crust. Scorpius roared in fury as his prey had escaped, but in this open wasteland, nothing could escape him. He charged forward again, pincers clacking madly in an attempt to destroy his enemy, and then feast on his innards. Die Spinne chattered from his position on the side of the mesa, as his eyes began to flash once again. However, Scorpius was not so stupid as to be hit again. He immediately began to dig into the ground, as the flashing intensified before Die Spinne released his weapon. But the blast splashed harmlessly across the wasteland, decimating a good sized patch of land. But Scorpius had escaped.
Die Spinne climbed to the top of the mesa and surveyed the area, keeping his senses alert for the slightest sign of his foe. The ground beneath him rumbled mightily with the approach of Scorpius. Die Spinne prepared to swing away with another web, when suddenly; the entire mesa began to collapse beneath him. He cried out in surprise as Scorpius burst from beneath, amidst the rubble and dust. The black arachnid clamped his pincers down on Die Spinne’s legs, as his prey tried in vain to move with his webbing. But Scorpius held fast and jabbed his stinger down into the weakened portion of Die Spinne’s back. The spider screamed, and then seemed to freeze, as the neurotoxin began to do its work. Scorpius roared as he began to apply pressure to Die Spinne’s legs with his powerful, crushing claws. The spider was helpless for the moment, and the scorpion was taking full advantage of it.
Armor splintered as the black behemoth applied more force, when Die Spinne began to regain control of his muscles. He lashed out with his modified pedipalps, gripping Scorpius’ face and rending the weakened armor to shreds. Die Spinne was strong, far stronger than Scorpius’ overall power, and used such to his advantage, lifting the black arachnid with his forelimbs, before jutting his abdomen forward and unleashing a streamer of webbing. Scorpius was temporarily blinded by the mass of sticky substance in his face, as he futilely tried to remove it with his pincers, freeing up Die Spinne. The spider took advantage of this and bit down on Scorpius’ back, injecting gallons of potent necrotizing venom into his would-be meal. The armor and flesh rotted away, but far slower than was anticipated. Scorpius’ own natural resistance to such venom slowed down the effect of such, giving the scorpion time to retaliate.
Since he didn’t need to see where his foe was to be able to attack, he lashed out with his stinger, driving the point into Die Spinne’s back, again and again. His venom glands needed some time to refill, but the fact that Die Spinne was having a massive, spiked appendage driven into his back didn’t help any. The spider struggled against his foe, before retreating via another streamer of webbing directed at another mesa. Scorpius roared in frustration as his quarry escaped again, before lowering his stinger over his own head. A trickle of acid seeped through, dripping onto the silken mask, dissolving it slowly. His vision cleared once again, Scorpius took off in pursuit of Die Spinne. The spider had disappeared, but it’s massive girth gave telltale signs through slight tremors in the ground.
Die Spinne remained hidden from sight for the moment. Such a foe as this did not allow for the usual melee tactics he favored, and a new strategy was in order. As he looked out over the desert, he caught a fleeting glimpse of Scorpius burrowing beneath the sands, and a plan formulated in his mind. The ground quaked as Scorpius approached, and, a mere fraction of a second before he burst from the ground, Die Spinne leapt skyward, a feat unimaginable by a creature his size. Scorpius’ claws closed on thin air, when a blast of luminous energy splattered across his back, cooking armor and flesh alike. Die Spinne crashed down atop Scorpius, driving the points of his own eight-legged means of locomotion into the arachnid’s back. Scorpius screeched in pain as Die Spinne waled on him, stabbing and pounding at the thick armor plating in an attempt to break through. The stinger repeatedly attempted to jam itself into Die Spinne’s face, but the arachnid avoided repeated strikes, all the while continuing his assault.
Scorpius retaliated with another jet of acid, this time catching die Spinne right in the face. His own armor provided some protection, as the caustic substance began to eat away at his flesh, but it wouldn’t last forever. The black scorpion surged beneath Die Spinne’s weight, throwing the spider off balance before bringing his claws into play against Die Spinne’s belly. The spider shrieked as the pincer claws stripped away at his belly, while the stinger repeatedly jammed itself into his sides. The spider burned with a combination of rage and hunger against this monstrosity. With a titanic effort, Die Spinne jabbed his limbs at Scorpius, causing the arachnid to pause momentarily, giving him enough time to jet away once again with his webbing. But he didn’t go far. He landed a short distance away and chattered angrily at Scorpius. Thin tendrils of glowing energy emerged from the patches on his cephalothorax, then suddenly lengthened and lashed out like whips against Scorpius.
The behemoth roared in agony as the whips sliced through his armor in a way no previous attack had done. A trio of such whips wrapped around one of his outstretched pincers and gripped it around the wrist, where their burning properties began to slice through the armor at an alarming rate. Scorpius struggled in vain, but Die Spinne kept his hold tight. Suddenly, Scorpius’ pincer claw dropped to the hardpan, severed from his own arm. The scorpion screeched in agony, as the sizzling stump of his arm smoked before him. He dove beneath the sands, disappearing from view. Die Spinne had an idea of what to expect, and so prepared to jump away, when the ground burst open beneath him, far faster than previous attacks. Scorpius roared mightily as he latched on to one of Die Spinne’s back legs with his remaining pincer claw, and attempted to drag the spider under. Die Spinne prepared to fire an acidic streamer of webbing, when Scorpius’ stinger lashed out, paralyzing his abdomen and blocking the attack. Die Spinne could not more or feel his abdomen at all, but the pain in his leg was excruciating. Scorpius roared again as he applied maximum force, mangling the leg beyong use, before ripping it bodily from its owner’s chest.
Die Spinne wailed in agony as he turned to face Scorpius, glowing energy gathering in his maw. But Scorpius had other ideas. He tossed the crushed appendage aside and slammed his pincer shut on Die Spinne’s face, squeezing for all he was worth. The energy buildup continued and released, resulting in a massive explosion that sent both combatants flying. When the smoke cleared, neither monster moved. Scorpius lay on one side, his remaining claw blackened and burnt, but apparently still serviceable. Die Spinne’s face, however, was crushed and mangled by the awesome power of Scorpius’ pincer claw. The wind returned, blowing the rest of the smoke and dust away, and both creatures stirred. Scorpius righted himself and tested out his remaining claw. It worked well enough that he could it to finish off his foe. He looked over at Die Spinne, who was also on his remaining legs. The tell-tale glow of the Bio Energy tendrils returned, as they began to form on his back. Scorpius rushed forward, eager to end this and feed, and the two combatants prepared for the final clash.
Die Spinne's whips lashed through the air, but Scorpius was already upon him. With a mighty roar, he clamped his remaining pincer down on Die Spinne's face once again, this time applying full force. Die Spinne screamed in agony, but it was too late. With a single deft stroke, Scorpius crushed his foe's head, splattering his poisoned innards all over. Die Spinne twitched once, then fell still, the glowing patches on his cephalothorax fading into darkness. Scorpius roared in victory as he began to feast on Die Spinne's carcass. The spider was made a meal of by his own prey, as the harsh environs of this world claimed another victim.
