Valcanus lifted his head high and roared, the heat from his breath forming blurry waves in the air. His bellow was answered with the growls and shrieks of his foes as they approached, trodding through the thick rainforest. Valcanus snorted a pair of smoke clouds and glared as the two kaiju, Megalon and Baragon, prepared for battle.

Baragon was the first to attack. Springing forward on it's powerful hindlegs, the subterannean dinosaur pounced, clearing a hundreds of feet of jungle in one impressive leap. He slammed into Valcanus, headbutting him in the stomach with his hard, horned skull. Valcanus hit the ground, burning trees flying up in the air around him.

The heat emanating from Valcanus' hide did little to deter Baragon as he climbed onto him and began tearing into his chest with his clawed forelimbs. Valcanus bellowed, eyes glowing with heat, and he lifted his hands, grabbing Baragon by the neck and squeezing hard. The big-eared beast yelped as Valcanus stranggled him and, with a violent shake, pulled out of his grasp and backed off.

Free to move again, Valcanus quickly got to his feet and assumed a defensive position. He snarled and prepared to engage Baragon, but something caught his attention. Megalon was nowhere to be seen. Valcanus hissed, spying a large hole where the ancient insect had gone under.

Valcanus suddenly rushed forward, running towards Baragon and hurriedly moving away from where he had been standing. Behind him the ground shook and exploded as Megalon's drill broke the surface. The slow-witted guardian screeched as he watched Valcanus, long gone, ram into his ally with his blunt-horned head.

Baragon flew threw the air, landing on his plated back and sliding through the loose soil before skidding to a half. Rather than pressing the attack on Baragon, Valcanus turned around to face Megalon. The cockroach-like creature had pulled itself up from the ground and now, with it's shining metal arms, rushed towards him.

Valcanus dodged right as Megalon lunged with one of his colossal forelimbs. Valcanus saw the opening and attacked, thrusting his right fist into Megalon's back and shoving him forward.

Now with both of his enemies in front of him and within his range of sight, Valcanus could put his elemental abilities to good use. He opened his jagged maw and boomed, emitting a sound somewhere inbetween thunder and mad laughter, and raised one of his clenched fists to the sky. Two massive geysers of lava burst through the ground, one below each of his foes. Megalon stumbled backwards, frontside smoking, while the lighter Baragon was thrown backwards, landing on an old ruin.

Opening his fanged, vertical mouth, Megalon shot out sphere of napalm at his attacker, the fireball striking Valcanus in the face and extinguishing in a burst of embers.

The hit did almost nothing at all. Fireballs were totally ineffective against a lava monster... but against a giant insect...
Valcanus roared and arched his back, fiery orbs of magma launching from his dorsal spires and soaring through the sky, trailing black smoke. The cluster of fireballs homed in on Megalon, all hitting him at once. In an explosion of fire and smoke, Megalon was thrown backwards, landing on his back, motionless and smoldering.

Valcanus shook his head, amused by the foolishness of his dim-witted enemy. Just then, the ground beneath him gave way. While he wasn't looking, Baragon had tunneled beneath the ground and circled around him. Valcanus thundered his surprise as the earth collapsed and he fell down, now up to his waist in soil. Baragon burst up from the ground in front of him, waving his fin-like ears and fanged jaws in Valcanus' face. He unleashed a stream of flames, bathing Valcanus' entire head in searing heat.
Unfazed by the fire, Valcanus summoned another lava geyser.
The column of molten earth struck Baragon's underbelly and launched him into the sky, out of sight and out of mind.

Valcanus pulled himself up and glanced up, seeing Baragon fall to the ground like a meteor. As the ground shook, Megalon stood up, clanging his drills together and screeching loudly. The idiot bug wanted more.


Valcanus shot steam form his vents, his scorching aura warping the air and burning the jungle around him. Megalon charged, horn glowing. A bolt of bright yellow lightning shot forth, striking Valcanus' left shoulder. Sparks flew and smoke billowed, but the heat generated by the lightning did little more than encourage Valcanus. He charged towards his foe, meeting Megalon's charge head on.

The ground shook as their massess collided. Megalon shoved forward with his horned head, trying to shove Valcanus back, but with his rocky body, Valcanus outweighed the giant arthropod by several tons. He bit down on Megalon's horn and pulled down hard, throwing the bug on his side. Valcanus lurched forward, kicking Megalon in the stomach and knocking him onto his back.
Despite seeing how ineffective they were against Valcanus, Megalon spat out another napalm ball, hitting his fiery foe in the lower jaw.

Valcanus snarled, glaring down at the pea-brained monster. He opened his mouth and exhaled his heat beam, a blazing inferno concentrated into a single stream of energy. Megalon shrieked in pain as the intense heat burned it's body, burning it's exoskeleton and the flesh beneath it. Megalon wailed and writhed, firing off another bolt of lightning. The bolt struck Valcanus in the mouth, interrupting his onslaught.

Valcanus belched smoke and watched his flaming opponent scramble to his feet and, showing it's true colors, spread it's wings and took to the sky. Valcanus watched as the giant beetle guardian soared into the air, trailing gray smoke.

Valcanus roared triumphant, boasting his power as his enemy ran away, shaming the coward. Not yet satisfied, Valcanus clenched his fists and pumped out another volley of fireballs from his back. He watched as the burning spheres slowly caught up to his fleeing foe and, in the distance, hit their target. There was a small explosion, and then his distant enemy fell from the sky. Valcanus could make out the dust cloud as the monster crash landed in the distance.

Valcanus glanced around, scanning the jungle. Baragon, too, had disappeared. But somehow he doubted that he had ran off as well...

Valcanus superheated his body, raising his core temperature and setting his exterior aflame. The cracks in his rocky skin glowed brightly as his entire structure grew hotter. He assaulted the ground with his superheated claws, slashing the ground apart. He quickly dug under the ground, submerging himself in earth.

Then, he was still. Surrounded by soil and completely motionless, Valcanus could feel the vibrations running through the ground without distraction. Feeling the rumble of the earth as his remaining foe burrowed through it, Valcanus realized his whereabout. The fight was on again.

Below the surface, the two burrowing monsters collided. Baragon let out a wail of surprise as Valcanus' head burst through the soil he was about to claw away. The fire monster unleashed his heat beam, shooting Baragon further back in his tunnel and illuminating the darkness. The pitch black of Baragon's tunnel was shattered as Valcanus' glowering form crawled forward.

Cast in orange light, Baragon retaliated with his fire breath, aiming at Valcanus' "eyes". The flash of light masked Baragon as he quickly burst up from his subterannean chamber and clambered onto the surface.

Valcanus shook his head and looked around. Baragon was gone, but the light pouring in from his hole made his location obvious. Forcefully standing up, Valcanus exploded up from beneath the ground, roaring like an erupting Volcano. Baragon screeched and jumped back, taken off guard. Valcanus fired his heat beam again, this time hitting Baragon square in the head. There was a mighty explosion and Baragon flew backwards, the tip of his horn blown off by the sudden blast.

Valcanus pulled himself up and watched his foe. Baragon struggled to stand up, but he was shaking, weak. The quadruped's legs shuddered and, with a helpless moan, he fell to the ground, beaten.

Valcanus lifted his head and bellowed, fiery embers flying from his cavernous maw. Leaving his exhausted foe to contemplate his defeat, Valcanus sank back below the surface, digging into the magma and disappearing in a vibrant spray of flame.

Jabbing his scythes into the soggy earth and pulling himself up from the bay, Ghouldon rose to his feet dripping water. His "flesh" oozed around him, absorbing waste that had stuck to him- empty Dorito bags, beer cans, dead fish. The twin spines on his tail sucked in chemical pollution from the bay, drawing it in like a giant pair of pipettes.

Ghouldon was not the only monster who had made plans to destroy New York today, though. As Ghouldon walked inland, he began to notice tiny creatures running through the streets- not humans, but something else. Before he could get a better look, something struck him from behind, throwing him down to the ground. Immediately turning onto his back and glaring up to see his attacker, Ghouldon beheld a gray skinned beast looming over him.

Clover lifted one of his massive forearms in preparation of another swipe, his grotesque paw eclipsing the orange-tinted sun. Ghouldon's mouth flew open, expelling a stream of noxious green gas into the brute's face in mid-strike. Clover howled and choked, backing off as the foul-smelling fumes filled his nostrils. Leaping to his feet, Ghouldon roared at his gagging opponent and advanced.

Before he could attack, however, Clover charged forward, ramming into his chest and sending him stumbling back. Ghouldon snarled and retaliated, his skin forming tentacles and whipping them off, splattering Clover with his liquid, animate flesh. The giant amphibian snarled, shaking in aggrivation as the cold, stinking goo squirmed around on it's hide like worms.

Ghouldon rushed in, swinging one of his great scythe arms at the distracted kaiju. The massive blade slashed Clover across the chest, cutting through it's thick skin and knocking it back. Pulling back with the other scythe, Ghouldon hissed. Pumping from his wrist, a yellow-green liquid dripped down the blade, coating it. Ghouldon roared and swung, striking Clover with the acid-drenched scythe. The monster stumbled back, shrieking in pain and raising it's arms as the newly formed gash on it's chest began to burn wildly.

Clover brought down his grotesque paws, siezing Ghouldon's shoulders, but the slimy abomination would have none of it. Arcing his scorpion-like tail over his head, Ghouldon hissed under his noxious green breath. Striking out with lightning speed, Ghouldon stabbed his pronged tail into the back of Clover's neck. As the spines punctured the skin, they began pumping their venomous filth into Clover, poisoning the beast's bloodstream. He convulsed, the toxic cocktail of deadly chemicals and natural venoms spreading through his body like wildfire. Ghouldon pushed forward, charging out of Clover's weakened grasp and heabutting his attacker. Clover toppled over, mohawk-induced puncture marks lining his stomach.

Ghouldon hissed, standing over his foe proudly. Before Clover could rise or Ghouldon could strike again, a nearby explosion siezed all attention. Sharpnel flew everywhere as a building near Ghouldon blew apart, another monster ripping through it and leaping out.

Zilla pounced from the structure he had burrowed through, tackling the oozing intruder to the ground. The mutant iguana began swiping wildly at Ghouldon's back, slashing like mad. Still, the blows did nothing- swiping only at the liquid ooze that made up his "skin", the monster's claws did not cut deep enough to strike anything solid.

Ghouldon shoved off from the ground, forcefully throwing Zilla off and knocking the monster back into the building it had jumped from. Ghouldon spun around, scythes glistening with acid, and swung into the wreckage, raking his stinging blades across Zilla's shoulders and chest.

Charging forward, Clover slammed into Ghouldon, biting down on his shoulder and wrapping his gangly forearms around him in an awkward bearbug. Quickly turning the tide, Ghouldon's skin embraced the monster, extending tentacles and wrapping around Clover's head. The sea beast let go and pulled back, ripping the ooze off with him. The animate green sludge slithered around, covering Clover's head. He staggered away, clawing at the stuff, trying to rip it off and breath, but the goo held strong.
As Clover struggled to remove the goo, Ghouldon turned to face Zilla, fresh on his feet. The anxious reptile leapt into the air, but Ghouldon was waiting. Lashing out with his tail, Ghouldon stuck his stingers straight out, letting Zilla fly right into them. Spinning around pulling his foe with his own forward momentum, Ghouldon threw Zilla with his tail, sending the monster flying across the city. The giant lizard crash landed several blocks away in a massive cloud of smoke and debris, shaking the earth.

Ghouldon now turned to Clover, recalling his flesh. The green slime dropped from his enemy's face, slithering back to join it's master. Clover heaved, gasping for breath, the fleshy lobes at the back of his head throbbing.

Ghouldon unleashed another blast of his breath, hitting the gasping monster with unbearably disgusting halitosis. Clover sputtered and shrieked, waving desperately at the green cloud and backing away, knocking into buildings as it tried to get away from the stench that was infecting his lungs.

Struggling to breath, Clover retreated, turning tail and stomping towards the water. Ghouldon roared and whipped another set of tentacles, throwing his foul flesh as insult.

Meanwhile, under the ground, Zilla was on the rebound. With the toxic intruder distracted, he made his move, bursting out of the ground in front of Ghouldon and lunging for the jugular. Zilla's box-shaped jaws clamped down around Ghouldon's throat, his teeth sinking through the slime and hitting the form beneath. Ghouldon snarled, leaning back and raising a leg, kicking Zilla in the stomach and throwing him off. As the monster hit the ground, Ghouldon blasted him with his breath. Taking one whiff, Zilla wasted no time getting to his feet and charging out of the gas cloud, making a b-line for Ghouldon.

Rushing to meet him, Ghouldon swung forward with one of his scythes, knocking Zilla aside. He hissed, stepping forward and raising his right scythe high. A drop of acid fell from it's sharpened tip as it plunged down, piercing Zilla's heart in an explosion of gore.

Raising his head and giving one last, desperate roar, Zilla fell limp on the pavement. Ghouldon hissed and pulled his scythe out from the monster's bloodied chest, triumphant. He turned towards the bay and looked around- Clover was long gone. He'd probably return for round two once he caught his breath... but until then, the Big Apple belonged to Ghouldon.

"We're in the green. D2 is online and ready for control. Begin operation Clean Sweep."

Rotating it's upper half and taking aim, Devastator MK. II opened fire on it's prey- the amassing Kamacurai swarm. As the spindly, predatory insects poured into the streets, "D2" let loose with it's Oblivion Cannon. In the blink of an eye the mass of mantids went airborn, caught in a massive explosion that hurled them off their feet. Charred concrete and flaming mantis bits fell from the sky as the swarm marched forward, homing in on it's mechanical foe. D2 fired again, shredding dozens more Kamacurai in a blaze of fire and gore. As the massive tank began to turn the rest of it's body around, the Kamacurai hissed and screeched, tearing apart the city as they crawled, leapt, and flew over it.
It's Shredder Gun finally lined up with the crowd, D2 unleashed a ferocious volley of bullets, coupled with another blast from the Oblivion Cannon. The closest Kamacurai dropped, stumbling over their own legs and falling forward as armor-piercing rounds shot through their heads. The Kamacurai behind them shrieked and screamed, tripping over their comrades as wave after wave of ammo held them back. The cannon blast rocked them, exploding the base of a small building and pummeling the swarm with shrapnel. Armed with mindless determination and sheer willpower, the insects continued to rush towards D2, scrambling over their dead and clicking their mouthparts hungrily.
As the horde of carnivores grew nearer, the tank's far-off controllers took defensive actions, realizing that the time for long-range attacks was drawing to an end. Maintaining a steady stream of firepower and launching a pair of screaming Hellkites into the air, the Devastator's titanic engine roared, it's armored treads beginning to roll forward. The airborne homing-missiles struck the swarm in a brilliant flash, annhilating several of the monsters and setting many nearby ones on fire. Charging forward and switching off it's Shredder, D2 plunged head-on into the writhing mass of claws and jaws.
The ravenous swarm was immediately greeted with a wall of armor plating and sharpened blades and pushed back. D2 whirred through the legions of Kamacurai, mowing them over like grass. The monstrous insects wailed and scrambled for their lives as countless more were impaled and flattened by the Devastator.
Buzzing over the long-since-evacuated metropolis, dozens more Kamacurai watched the carnage and silently acknowledged their new enemy. Folding their wings and tucking in their arms, they plummeted from the sky like spiny, chitonous bombs.
Ramming through an abandonned warehouse, D2 rumbled into a clearing, it's front end caked in a layer of congealed ichor and shattered exoskeleton. The monster tank's top half spun around, firing a blast at the mantises as they crawled over the rubble. Limbs flew as the blast kicked dust into the smoky air, but onward the arthopods marched.
At that moment, the dive-bombing fliers came thundering down, screeching wildly and outfolding their long, barbed arms. A pair of Hellkites rushed towards the attackers, but the blasts intercepted too few- with a loud clang, three of the insects slammed into D2's hull.
Ichor splattered as one of the eager mantids collided with D2 chassy, splitting it's comparatively fragile skull and sliding off. The other two anchored themselves and began swinging, batting ferociously at D2's plated hide with their scythe-like claws.
The Devastator's nozzle turned 360 degrees, crashing into one of the Kamacurai and throwing it off. Ignoring the third, D2 charged back towards the other mantises, Shredder Gun blazing.
In mid rush the giant tank swerved right, skidding on it's treads and presenting it's side to Kamacurai horde. Raising the hatches that lined it's flank, D2 unleashed it's Ventral Grenade Launchers.
The Kamacurai who hadn't already been regretting their poor taste in opponents were certainly doing so now. Trailing smoke, multitudes of rocket-propelled grenades pummeled the swarm, ushering a plethora of explosions. Fireballs engulfed the entire front line of mantids, throwing disembodied heads and legs high over the city. The reeling swarm panicked as the Oblivion Cannon and Hellkites joined the fray, tearing the assembly of kaiju asunder in a dazzling display of firepower.
After several painfully long seconds of unceasing carnage, the Devastator halted. Waiting for the clouds of billowing smoke to dissipate, the mech's controllers checked their radar displays. Only one Kamacurai remained.
Turning it's nozzle slightly, D2 backed up, it's pea-brained yet iron-willed attacker still hacking fervently. Slowly turning to face the nearest, smallest building, D2 charged forward, crushing the Kamacurai soldier inbetween it's hull and the collapsing brick wall.

"Operation Clean Sweep is complete." Stated one of the far-off technitions, grinning smugly. "D2 1, Monsters 0."
