The Humanoid mecha practically flew out of its dock. Hydraulic muscles extending to their full length, the pilot and machine sailed in unison hundreds of meters into the air, limbs gracefully directing the machine to its destination. The monstrous Megaguirus' presence was unwelcome in Sydney, and the city's own mechanized warrior was called in.
The monstrous insect\reptile hybrid wasn't hard to find. The queen sat perched on the city's main bridge, her weight crushing the arch above, leaving the monster clinging to the barely stable body. Shredded cars lay at her feet, previous victims of her hunger. Megaguirus' crested head tilted back as she gulped down a moutful of screaming morsels. However, she turned as soon as the shadow descended on her. The monstrous queen's wings barely carried her off the bridge in time, as a massive blade sliced down into the concrete, severing the entire structure in two. A massive wave splashed hundreds of feet into the air as the Harpy's blade hit the bay. The machine's birdlike head shot up to glare at the hovering monster before him. Megaguirus was shocked by this challenger's sudden appearence, but this quickly wore off. She had been expecting someone to step up against her for some time now, and was ready in moments. This enemy was speedy. She would have to stay on her toes. Her wings rapidly beat, rippling the air around her body.
The Harpy leaped, aiming his bladed right arm over his head in a forward arc. Megaguirus leaped to the left, but part of the blade flew true. The monstrous queen shrieked as part of her right wing fell into the bay below, still vibrating. Megaguirus vanished momentarily from the Harpy's sight, only to collide with his back as he landed in the bay. He stumbled forward, but did not fall. He spun rapidly, but Megaguirus was more prepared this time. Blades sliced through empty air as Megaguirus vanished. However, the pilot now had a firm grasp of his enemy's tactics. He wouldn't get the chance to exploit this knowledge, however, as a sudden shockwave from seemingly nowhere sent the mecha flying face forward into the already collapsed bridge. A massive wave swept over the warrior, momentarily burying it in the bay's water. The Harpy rose, however, glaring into the bay at the figure that stood directly within ground zero. Six crimson eyes glared out from the steam around it.
The monstrous insect was rapidly closing in, charging the machine's backside at high speeds. She was not prepared for what happened next, however. With blinding speed, the bladed forelimb spun, along with the mecha's upper-body, while the legs moved only slightly, creating a very unnatural momentary position for the Harpy. The colossal blade slashed accross Megaguirus' neck and carapace, tearing through chitin, muscle and organ. The once proud queen splashed into the bay, green blood rapidly pooling where she hit.
The pilot had seen her shadow descend over his warmachine. He had been prepared.
The lanky machine turned back to Monster X. The pilot had heard of this monster before, but he hadn't expected it to show up so suddenly.
Monster X wasted no time in charging at the Harpy. However, the pilot refused to ablidge the alien's wishes, and with a great bound, the machine was carried high into the air. With a slight contortion, it was on its feet directly behind Monster X, driving its blades into the alien's shoulders as it landed, using the momentum to its advantage. Monster X roared in shock and pain as its arms fell limp at its sides, the muscles severed. The beast spun around, bringing its face directly into the Harpy's, and fired.
Golden streamers of energy tore through the Harpy's facial and sternal armor, leaving small, smoking holes as the mecha was thrown onto its back from the blast.
And as the Harpy's head went down, its foot went up, right into Monster X's jaw.
The alien fell onto his back instantly as the Harpy shot up to its feet and loomed over the fallen monster. Monster X was already starting to rise, but its lack of functioning arms slowed its ascent, despite even its powerful gravity feild. Raising its massive arms, the Harpy delivered the coup de gras.
