Somewhere in the Pacific...
The monstrous serpent was on high alert. Its body had jolted knowlingly only moments ago. From its resting place along the seafloor, the titanic Megarelia had detected something. Something big... Immediately, its body set to work, readying itself for action. It had been months since the colossal python had fed, and its rapidly churning stomach acids demanded more biomass to dissolve. The snake was hungry, pure and simple, and now prey had wandered right into its domain. Its target acquired, Megarelia lay motionless, awaiting the prey to make itself known. Whatever it was, it was moving fast. Lidless eyes stared off into the blue. The unfathomably large reptile didn't so much as twitch for the few minutes it needed to spot its next victim. Slinking effortlessly through the blue, the spiny, black and green armor was unmistakeable. Vespid eyes glared around it with eternal confidence. A cold smile forever imbedded in its mug, teeth the size of telephone poles protruding at all angles. One look at her slender, yet muscular body was enough to make it clear. Whatever Megarelia was about to ingest was a mobile weapon. Though not nearly as large as the serpent, something in Megarelia's primitive mind paused. Even its basic mind told it that this was not going to be cakewalk. Gingerly, the serpent's head leaned in and it slowly began to move, heading for its prey.
Rygama's train of thought paused. The radioactive fluids that served as her primary ocular and audial receptors, behind her violet eyes, had detected something. A massive electromagnetic impulse had bombarded her, telling her that something large was moving nearby. She had gotten similar readings before from plate tectonics, but her guard remained up. Even the magma flows hadn't moved like this before. She paddled her wings more slowly now, her tail poised to rapidly lash. If there was something nearby, she would not be caught off guard.
Megarelia's pace slowed as it drew near. It had frightened off smaller prey before by being too eager, and had given away its position. It would not repeat that mistake. Rygama remained firmly in its sights as it slowly slinked off after her, hiding among the kelp and oceanic ridges. Its rigid back blended in surprisingly well with the seafloor.
Rygama was sure something was there now. Sighing mentally, her muscles tensed, preparing for the inevitable as she paddled on through the blue. A sudden jolt of momevement caught her eye and she looked down in reflexed, glaring at the seafloor where her enemy no doubt lurked. Nothing caught her light receptors, yet her senses insisted that it was directly below her. The seafloor itself seemed to be what she sensed. Then she realized that the seafloor was rising...
Rigid plates poked from the sand, and a monstrous string of mass slowly rose from below, ascending to greet her. Rygama was momentarily confused. What was happening? Was it more plate tectonics? What in the name of Sheila was she looking at?
Then another movement caught her. In her infatuation with the threat below, she had neglected what lie ahead. Her head swung up to be greeted by a mouth the size of her own torso. Quickly twin rows of needle-like teeth clamped over her upper body, forcing her wings back in their charge. Rygama roared loudly, but her cry was muffled to the outside world as Megarelia's maw continued over her body, pulling the spiny titan deeper into its gullet. Rygama's tail thrashed wildly, swatting and slashing blindly, nipping the titanic mug several times. However, her leverage was poor, and with another great chomp, Rygama's tail was the only portion of her not engulfed by the jaws. Her armor pressed hard against the slimy interior of the beast's gullet, failing to penetrate the rubbery flesh as she slid down. Her spines caught against ribs, and yet the beast expressed no pain. With one final chomp, Rygama was completely engulfed, and now sliding more quickly down the massive esophagus. In an instant, she was being forced down a waterslide far too small for her body, and then she splashed into the water-filled segment that was evidently the beast's stomach. Rygama snarled in aggrivation at what was happening. How could she have let this happen? She hadn't even been able to register what the bloody beast looked like! Immediately a sharp sensation course through her body. While she registered what was happening, pain did not occur. Her nervous system considered pain primitive. However, she was no less aware that her armor was considerably softer than it had been a moment ago. Rygama let out a monstrous roar and began thrashing, knowing full well now that she was being digested. She had done the exact same thing to countless whales and orcas on her travels, and had even occasionally choked down an entire monster alive and kicking. For some reason, the thought that this may be the revenge of such monsters as the miniscule Kron, who was the first one she completely devoured, angered her immensely. In a brutal rage, Rygama swung her arm up, stretching the membrane wide as she scraped her fully extended claws against the stomach lining. Even as she thrust it to her side, poking deep into the membrane, it merely stretched to accomodate her. Hissing wildly, she lashed her other arm out to the side and spread them both apart, attempting to stretch the stomach to lethal dimensions now. And still it did nothing. A tightless pulled against her outstretched arms now, as she felt the stomach's muscles attempting to cram her back into a diving position. Rygama screeched again as she felt her carapace softening. Her mighty shell, the toughest point on her entire body. Rygama wailed, knowing how many rival weapons had shattered against the spot before. A glob of drool flew from her maw and into the tainted waters. She was having a bloody tantrum now! She was NOT food to any being! She was THE apex predator! Her jaws closed now and a calmness overtook her body. Instead, she began to focus on the fire inside of her. The fluid being that was her brain began to concentrate its radioactive emissions into her skin. An unholy green glow overook her eyes and joints. Immediately, the water around her began to boil and a steamy mist began to condense over her eye panels.
Megarelia instantly felt the change within. It had settled back against the seafloor to digest its prey and though it had expected an internal struggle, this was totally new. Harsh burning began to pain its gut. It's stomach expanded slightly now, as the pain grew still worse.
Rygama's body was glowing harshly now, turning the water around her to steam, then into fire. The stomach grew less tight and Rygama relaxed some as the acids vanished into the atmosphere. Her limbs were now able to freely move.
Megarelia cried out a prolonged hiss, releasing a large cloud of steam. The water churned and boiled at its sides now. It was in pure, abstract pain. It couldn't handle this meal, it HAD to be rid of the agony. In retaliation, it heaved forth its sotmach contents, belching everything within into the boiling sea.
Rygama's entire world spun as she was forced backwards through the tight-fitting waterslide and splashed back into the soothing, pure blue seawater. Her thermal aura fading, Rygama shook her head and instantly glared at the titanic serpent, now able to confirm that it was, in fact, a serpent. Its reddish skin now stood out plainly in the blue. Its jaw slung open in pain. Even after being trapped in its stomach, Rygama was startled by its size. Its head was indeed the size of her entire torso, and its teeth, while tiny within its massive head, were still as large as hers!
Megarelia did not take long to regain its composure. Pain was no longer on its mind. Its digestive juices had already started flowing again. It would eat today. It simply needed to subdue its prey first.
Rygama was now prepared as Megarelia's forked tail lashed at her from below. With a quick beat of her wings, she leaped to the side, sidestepping the tail. Unfortunately, Megarelia was just as prepared, and the tail came back down, coiling around Rygama's upper body, binding her arms to her sides. The tail's dense armor had no problem pressing into Rygama's spiny carapace, which had already begun hardening. Rygama felt her armor cracking beneath the thickly coiled muscle. While the pain did not overwhelm her, she registered that it was a bad spot to be in. Now it was time to go on the offensive. Rygama ducked her head and clampled her jaws over the titanic snake's tail, her fangs cracking through the armor like potato chips, slicing through muscle and crunching bone.
Megarelia hissed loudly, releasing Rygama and pulling its tail back, a trail of blood now leaking from it. Rygama was already behind the serpent by the time it managed to dismiss the pain. Megarelia was quickly greeted by an intense pain in the back of its neck as Rygama's jaws began working their way through the armor. Her claws held around the neck, anchoring her in place while the triphibian mutation's jaws crunched into the armor plating. However, it was much thicker here, and her jaws had trouble getting through it, largely due to the sheer width. Her leverage was minimal, and sofar the plates blocked her teeth from slicing through the flesh.
Megarelia roared now, swinging its upper body down with all its might, slamming Rygama into the rocky seafloor. She snarled in irritation, but held her grip. However, the serpent had other ideas. Its body began twisting, its upper-back rising to greet Rygama and coiling around her feet. Then, it yanked its head forward, ripping Rygama's jaws out of its spine, taking a large bite of armor with her. Without giving her time to escape, however, Megarelia's upper body then coiled around upper torso, signifigantly greater muscle now attempting to crush her. The water was forced from her gills as the coils wrought more cracks in her armor. Yet still, her body held out. Megarelia hissed loudly, frustrated that Rygama refused to give, where any other would have been broken in half. Her body was too dense. There was not enough leverage. A dozen bony spurs thrust from between the scutes along the snake's belly, stabbing deep into Rygama's body, one of them peircing a lung, another rupturing her intestines. The pressure was so great, Rygama did not bleed. Nor did she do anything else. Even in her restraint, Rygama was a dangerous creature. Ducking her head, she popped her jaw out of place and in a display that shocked the serpent, lunged forward and engulfed the snake's snout in her own mouth, biting down hard into its braincase.
Megarelia gave an earth-shattering roar, so loud that boulders fell from their perches on a nearby cliff, and dust clouds rose into the water. Rygama's fangs bore into its skull, grazing its very brain. Megarelia acted on impulse, yanking its head back, ripping Rygama's teeth out, kicking up another cloud of blood. The serpent could have no more of this! It struck the still bound Rygama, clamping its jaws over her arm. It was about to do something only one other species of snake would ever do. It defied instinct, and yet it was neceserry. Megarelia yanked its head back, squeezing Rygama's body tightly as it pulled on her trapped arm, digging into the flesh. While the jaws were meant only for grappling, they were sufficient, and the serpent's body did most of the job. With a hideous ripping sound, Rygama's arm came off, casting a massive coud of purple fluid into the water. Megarelia quickly tilted its head and swallowed, finding some relief from the morsel.
A hellish green cloud promptly exploded in Megarelia's face. The serpent felt a painful heat washing between the gaps in its scales, but mostly the blast startled the snake.
Rygama lowed her head and fired a second explosive beam into Megarelia's body, hoping to goad it into releasing her. Another fiery green burst erupted into the sea, and yet the serpent did nothing. Its armor was far too thick, its muscular body too resiliant. Like her, it was a mobile mass of muscle and digestive organs. For a brief moment, Rygama felt like smiling. It was a beautiful creature, really. It mirrored her in so many ways, yet it was so completely alien to her. A pity she was going to have to shred it...
As her arm gave way, Rygama found herself with more room. Thinking quickly, she leaned over, giving her right arm just enough leway to budge. Her claws retracted, adjusted their direction somewhat, then extended again. She felt the satisfying rip as her talons dug into the fleshy coils and raked upwards, pulling out of their bondage.
Megarelia darted forward, attempting to grab the other arm, but quickly found itself blindsided accross the temple, knocking its head to the side. Enough of this nonsense. Megarelia's lungs burned, longing for air. It had expended too much energy in this battle for too little gain. This creature was virtually inedible anyway. Megarelia quickly released Rygama and ducked back to the seafloor, leaving the one-armed sea beast victorious.
Rygama hissed deeply, relaxing somewhat. As the reddish serpent retreated quickly into the blue, Rygama tilted her head back and cackled. The snake was a nightmare to behold, and Rygama had dominated even it. Though somewhat hollow, as the Megarelia was simply looking for a meal, she none the less felt a sense of pride as she turned and slunk back to her journey. Her stomach gurgled, demanding immediate compensation for her missing arm.
