With a maddened grunt, Valcanus shoved Avion off and rose to his feet, standing defiantly as the chemical weapon struck. The acid splattered against Valcanus' senseless, rock hide and quickly dried up, boiling and evaporating away from the heat. He was having fun with Avion, but this new creature seemed to take priority. Valcanus stepped forward, lowered his head, and shot out a blast of fiery breath. The red beam hit home, striking Thaussian's stomach and pushing him backwards, charring the zombie's undead flesh. Valcanus snorted, pleased by that- this foe burned even better than the last. Valcanus bellowed and swung his hand up, pointing his claws to the sky- simultaneously, an advancing row of geysers burst from the ground, rapidly shooting forward and blasting Thaussian off his feet. Valcanus moved forward, closing the gap between the two monsters. As Thaussian began to rise, Valcanus planted his foot on his chest and pinned him down. Another blast of heat-beam ushered forth, raining hell on Thaussian's head. The continuous stream scorched the monster's smoking, cybernetic skull and glazed over the sand around it. As the singed kaiju lay prone, Valcanus stepped off and turned around- he hadn't forgotten about Avion just yet.

The guardian groaned in anguish, slowly forcing her wounded body to roll over and pick itself up. Another adversary had just arrived on this field of war...and evidently it saw both of them as foes - her, and the volcanic beast.
Her strength waned, and she almost collapsed to the broken ground as she felt her chances of survival fade ever more...but with a shake of her head, she forced her worries and doubts aside. If her own life needed to take precedence over all other concerns, then she never would have come to this battleground...she fought so that mankind would have a chance to survive, against the unimaginable forces that would effortlessly crush them otherwise. Her own needs and desires be damned.
With that, she felt her strength return, and she pushed herself back to her feet, glaring with burning ember eyes at the obsidius devil before her. The new arrival lay prone on the ground behind him, singed and smoking after a brief scuffle that didn't go in its favor. She would leave the new beast to its own means for the moment...right now, the hellspawn was her enemy.
The demon leered and hissed menacingly at her, apparently daring her to make a move. Slowly, she gave a single nod in response...then, taking a breath to steel herself, she lunged forward. Making an improbable scissor-swipe with her wing tips, she clipped the beast's legs out from under it, doing no noteworthy damage but forcing it to fumble to regain its footing. She rolled her shoulders forward and braced her neck, then came forth with an especially powerful beak thrust that cracked through the devil's armor and forced its head down into the asphalt. Following with another forceful blow, and another, and another, she finally let up once burning blood began to scorch her face.
The creature finally regained its footing and tried to back away to give itself room, but Avion would not have it. Shaking her head to sling the hot blood away, she then spread her wings wide and hurled herself up over its head, gripping one of the mountainous orifices on its back with her feet. The demon grunted and tried to vigorously shake its body to throw her off, but her grip was firm and she wasn't about to let go. Thrusting mightily with her wings and yanking with her legs, she pulled the monster upward, standing it up on its rear legs and forcing it to struggle just to keep its balance. Its tail flicked and lashed upward in an effort to discourage her, but she quickly blocked and batted it aside with her wing tip, then deftly flicked her own tail and slapped the back of the creature's leg. Its balance now fatally disrupted, Avion pushed off of its dorsal protrusion, turned in midair and watched as the beast collapsed into a pile of smoldering debris from one of its earlier assaults.
Pumping her wings harder now, she ascended into the sky again, watching her foe carefully, hoping it wouldn't free itself and foil her next move...once she reached a sufficient altitude, she angled herself toward the ground and let herself fall, toward the devil's exposed belly and writhing paws. As she rapidly gained speed, she tucked into a half somersault and came out descending feet-first, her long tail curled up beneath her breast and her wings folded to reduce air resistance. The result was prior to her earlier performance of this move: she crashed down feet-first on the beast's exposed belly with terrific force. Only now, with hard rubble and asphalt instead of relatively soft sea bed beneath it, the impact was much more painful: Valcanus lurched over almost double, bellowing fiery-hot breath as its belly armor cracked violently and its insides caved under the blow.
And as its pronged tail came upward in reflex, Avion reached out and carefully took it in her wing once more, then beat her other wing and leaped free of her perch, in turn thrusting and slamming the spiked limb down upon the weakened armor of the demon's stomach. The spikes sank deep, and the creature howled in agony and rage.
The Colossus touched down on the ground a short distance away, then hunkered down into something of a roosting position, taking a moment to catch her breath. She spared a glance toward the new addition to the battlefield, and saw it beginning to recover from whatever pain the devil had visited on it. If it saw her as a viable target in addition to her original enemy...it might be a good idea to keep the hellspawn between her and this new creature when possible.
That in mind, she maneuvered so that Valcanus, still writhing and vigorously airing its displeasure, was between her and the other entity. As the demon struggled to work its tail loose from its own body, she stepped up and lent it a wing, sliding the armored tip into a gap between the limb and the belly in which it was stuck and then giving a very generous push...a push that was more of a thrust which sent the tail's spurs slamming and sticking in the ground again. This time, though, it was simply to keep them out of her way while she attempted another maneuver. Again hopping up atop the beast's stomach, she identified a series of glowing, fresh fissures in its rocky skin. Digging her talons into these cracks, making sure her grip was firm, she began to pound her wings forcefully, hoping to eventually tear a couple of good chunks of skin loose from its belly...

Thaussian glared on at the two. The bird seemed to be going for the molten demon. And that molten beast was the one who had just inflicted damage to him. Thaussian would deal with the bird later. Right now, it was time to bring on the pain to Valcanus.
Thaussian bellowed and charged forward. Avion finally tore the molten flesh from Valcanus and flapped backwards just as Thaussian slammed into Valcanus, tackling him to the ground. Thaussian used his free arm to hold Valcanus by the neck and his chainsaw roared to life. His arm swung downward and sliced into Valcanus's face. Bits of lava and flesh went flying as Valcanus howled in rage. Thaussian gave up the assault quickly however. Apparently the creature had a molten blood, which could damage him if not taken aware of.
Thaussian got up and backed off of the downed lava beast. Some of the lava got onto his hide, but he did not feel the pain. Rotted flesh did fall from his body, however. As Thaussian backed up, he glared down at Valcanus. In a fury he lifted his foot and began stomping on the downed lava beast's chest. He snorted in anger and backed off once again. However, that didn't last long as Thaussian kicked forward, punting Valcanus away.
Thaussian gazed over At Avion, keeping his eye on her as he waited for Valcanus's response...

Thaussian immediately regretted the decision to look at Avion- as the undead abomination turned back towards Valcanus, it got a big, bad, flaming faceful of fist. He reeled back, his now-dented metal snout glowing red with heat, and fell to the ground, shaking the battered city's foundations. Valcanus bellowed, filled with rage- these beasts would dare team up against him? Swinging around wildly, Valcanus focused attention on the opponent that was still off the ground. The colossus was brave, but it was doomed none the less. Valcanus stomped forward, smashing and burning everything beneath his feet as he advanced. He opened his cavernous maw and attacked, siezing Avion's head. His fang-lined jaw closed shut around her neck, exposing her face to the burning, limitless hells that made up Valcanus' very essence. Valcanus grabbed the titan's frantically beating wings with his claws, stopping it's flight and now actively holding it off the ground. Turning his entire body completely around, Valcanus swung Avion through the air and, letting go with both claws and jaws, let her go. The giant bird soared, right into a crumbling skyscraper. An enormous cloud of dust and smoke engulfed the monster as the giant structure collapsed around it. Valcanus then turned to Thaussian- the zombie was getting to it's feet, but not for long. Valcanus opened his half, spreading his fingers and arcing his claws. The palm of his hand lit up as a whirring ball of flame ignirted in it, anxious to wreak havoc on organic flesh. With a satisfied hiss, Valcanus hurled the fireball down at the rising kaiju, striking it dead-on. The fireball exploded, blanketing Thaussian's chest and stomach with blazing flames. Raising his other hand, Valcanus formed another fireball and prepared to hurl it down at the cybernetically enhanced zombie.

And Valcanus, in turn, would regret its choice to remain so intently focused on the living-dead creature before it...but not because its follow-up attack would be halted, no. Without interruption, the molten devil hurled a second fireball at the downed enemy, striking a direct hit and worsening the damage already done. But when it heard a distant rumbling and shifting of debris, which it knew could only be one thing, and its rocky lips furled into a snarl as it turned toward the flying titan which would soon try to retake the offensive...
...It was too slow, and had taken too much time.
The Colossus now truly looked as old, weathered, and worn as the ages she had endured. Trickles of black blood flowed from the wounds in her body that weren't seared shut by the devil's blazing attacks, and her ancient armor was cracked and pummeled and scorched...a mute testament to the terrible power brought against it. The bits of rubble and detritus clinging to and falling loose from her form as she laboriously stood from her grave only added to the image, and did nothing to assuage her growing feeling, that she was fighting a losing war...
...But in the end, if she could only pave her share of the path before passing her mantle on to her fellow guardians - even if she could only weaken these two fell beasts, that Dirge or Argus might successfully avenge her loss - she knew they would carry on with all might and valor in her name, in Dormin's name...in the name of all mortal life.
She was damned if she could do any less.
With a twitch of her head, she eased loose a piece of broken concrete from her crest...then suddenly her face snapped up - her eyes strobing a brilliant flash--
--and the dark, hazy sky parted as heaven pinned the fiery hellspawn with its blinding glare again. The devil roared in agony and tried to stumble back from the light, but the rays of brilliance remained tightly focused on its face, searing its eyes and blinding its sight(note: no real damage)...only at Avion's will did the light finally withdraw.
As soon as it did, she shook the remaining debris from her body, clacking her stone beak, then pumped her wings and took back to the air. While Valcanus seethed in pain and fury, blindly lashing in any direction he imagined his enemy might soon strike from, she flew off in a broad arc to build speed, then gradually turned in and swooped down toward his position on the ground, approaching his rear right side.
The devil heard the rushing wind of her descent, started to turn and ready a hellish greeting for her, but the Bird of Prey was too swift: she thrust both feet forward and nearly doubled the beast sideways as she slammed a brutal double kick into its side while flying at full speed. Her talons sank into its armored hide, and she held her grip firm as she thrust her wings and regained speed and altitude, now dragging her foe along below her. Nodding to herself as another ploy came to her, she flew back out over the remains of the harbor where she had first begun her assault on this demon...but this time, she continued on out over the shallows, toward the deeper waters of the Atlantic.
Then, she made her move. Diving dangerously close to the water's surface, she thrust her legs down and slammed her captive firespawn into the cool ocean. Spray and steam assaulted her relentlessly, but she pulsed the Light of Heaven from her eyes to see her way as she dragged the volcanic demon through the waters...but she could not keep up this devastating attack for very long: she felt more than heard a series of cracks where her talons still gripped Valcanus, as its contracting and weakening armor was threatening to break under the tight hold she had to maintain to drag it through the waves.
Pity, she thought as she not wholeheartedly pulled the beast up from the surf, and started to return toward land...but as the igneous plates of skin continued to crack and sag with the strain placed upon them, another idea occurred to Avion. Spreading her wings wide, she slowed and halted her forward momentum, then beat her wings and started to ascend straight up into the sky. The demon, she noted with some satisfaction, was apparently dazed and weakened after being dragged through the cool ocean, and only weakly tried to resist her. So much the better, as she thrust steadily higher, and higher, until--
SNAP!
More chitinous plates of armor were torn from its body, revealing the glowing-hot body beneath for an instant before Valcanus began to fall and tumble uncontrollably toward the shallow waters some distance below. Avion kicked her legs out and tossed the pieces of useless armor aside, then, content that the devil wasn't going to disturb her right away, decided to settle her attention on the other entity that had joined this war as it began to recover from the second fireblast.

Thaussian was pissed. He rose up from the ground in a mad rage. Cries of anger poured from his maw as he turned to face his foes. Valcanus was no longer visible, but a large wave of water had just smashed against the nearby shore. Avion had more than likely dropped Valcanus like a payload of bombs over a ship. With no Valcanus to take his rage out on, Thaussian turned to the only other fighter, Avion.
Thaussian let out a loud moan and ran towards the circling bird. He leapt up into the air and tackled the bird in midair. Thaussian activated his chain saw and began to slice into Avion's left wing, tearing up flesh and armor. Avion screeched in pain as blood trickled from the wound. Thaussian deactivated his chainsaw and got off of Avion.
The undead cyborg snorted loudly. He glared down at the twitching bird and picked her up by the neck. Thaussian's maw seemed to grin as he sent the bird hurtling towards the water where Valcanus had been dumped. Avion splashed down into the water, creating a large wave of water. Thaussian's soul-less eyes just stared out at the sea.
Suddenly, his mouth opened wide, electricity cackling from the bolts on his neck. Soon, a beam of electricity fired from the zombie machine's maw. The electrical beam came into contact with the water. The electricity travelled through the water and shocked both fighters severally.
Thaussian stood defiantly as he awaited a response...

The ground rumbled as Valcanus tore through it, ripping away at the soil with searing-hot claws. The earth beneath Thaussian's feet crumbled, collapsing beneath his weight- but before the giant zombie could fall through, the ground literally exploded- flaming torrents of magma and churrned earth ripped through the surface as Valcanus rose, throwing Thaussain down on his back in a fiery display.
Digging his claws into the ground and crawling out of the ground on all fours, Valcanus stood up and shook himself, clenching his fists and blowing smoke into the air all around him. He stomped forward, crushing a small store that had previously managed to go unharmed. He raised an arm and bellowed, summoning a geyser beneath Thaussian- the pressurized column launched Thaussian up into the air, onto his feet, and into Valcanus' hand. He seized the undeed moster by it's throat, scorching it's lifeless flesh with his claws. Valcanus roared and lunged forward, releasing his grip as he swung with his other hand, delivering a powerful blow to Thaussian's side. The undead monster fell back sideways, crashing down in the street with a boom.
Valcanus snorted, raising his foot and setting it on Thaussian's throat. He grinned, lava dripping from his wicked maw- but Avion still breathed, as far as he could tell. Reluctantly, Valcanus eased off, turning towards the sea. He roared, challenging the guardian to rise and face him. Black smoke poured from his raging form, now blanketing the shore like a shadowy fog...

Normally Avion was hardly comfortable with the water; she was a flyer and not a swimmer, after all. But having braved Valcanus' searing heat and molten blood, and suffered numerous assaults of flames or magma or just red-hot rocky armor smashing her aside...the water's cool touch and taste was entrancingly soothing to the Colossus, and she could not help but lay there in the shallows for a moment, even after the undead one had somehow struck the water she and Valcanus rested in with lightning and spreading the extremely painful shock to both of them.
Unfortunately, she knew, she couldn't take too much time recovering, or her foes would take advantage of her complacency if they were anything but idiots. And when she heard the fiery demon bellow a challenge in her general direction...she knew it was time to wake up, before the demon saw to it that she would never wake again.
Slowly, the Bird of Prey managed to get her feet back beneath her and begin to stand up from the shallow water; the surface swelled and bulged with her massive shape for an instant before the water cascaded from her wet and glistening body. Feeling somewhat refreshed and rejuvenated by the cool bath, Avion vigorously shook herself off, ridding her body and armor of excess water weight before granting Valcanus her whole attention. The devil snorted a puff of fire and smoke as it appraised her, glowing eyes narrowed into a deadly leer. She could almost read its body language by now: come at me, if you dare.
She dared.
...
Rather, she would have dared. But only now did realization happen upon her: how would she dare to approach? She had had little choice but to simply walk up and attack directly several times now...doubtless the monster would be anticipating any trick or feint she might have in store: and if it was anything but an idiot, it could recognize the telltale flashing of her eyes before the Light of Heaven struck...
...Wait--a--second. Of course!
Were it more than inflexible stone, her beak would have contorted into a smile as she focused once more. Her eyes dimmed, became dark and empty hollows - and the devil reflexively squeezed its eyes shut, expecting another blinding flash of divine light...but the flash never came. And with its eyes shut tight, it failed to notice the clouds directly overhead amassing, thickening and darkening until even the haze of smoke and ash in the sky was visible against them.
But a rumble of thunder tipped it off. Its facial features contorted into what might have been a scowl as it must have realized what thunder meant...and it snarled as a focused column of rain began to fall upon it. Though its body's intense heat caused most of the droplets to boil into vapor before they even came into contact with it, rendering it more of an irritant than a true hazard to its being, the rain quickly increased until it was almost a waterfall, a divine torrential downpour from the oasis of the gods.
And the boiling, swirling vapor built and accumulated upon itself, continually compounded by the concentration of rain falling from heaven, until the creature was enshrouded in a veil of mist, its range of perception severely reduced.
The devil snarled a stream of angry fire, shaking its head in clear aggravation as it tried unsuccessfully to back away from the heavy and unnatural rainfall...failing that, quickly turned to and fro as it hoped to spot some sign of its enemy's approach before the inevitable strike--
CRRACK!!
For the third time in this battle, Valcanus felt its head smashed and its skull threatening to cave beneath the crushing force of Avion's powerful wings slamming together. Its neck sagged, and it nearly lost its footing and collapsed as it tried to shake off the painful blow...before it vaguely felt an armored limb lift its dazed head from the ground for a second, then release it - only to slam another heavy impact into its slacking jaw with such force as to lift it clear up onto its hind legs, its neck nearly breaking backward from the force. And as it reeled from the second stunning blow, just as gravity began to pull it back down - a sharp and excruciatingly painful impact jammed deep into its belly where chunks of its rocky skin were torn away. The piece of debris utilized in the attack quickly melted into its base materials in the heat, but the damage was done, and a healthy flow of lava oozed from the wound.
The beast finally collapsed to the ground under the crafty assault, preventing any further damage to its exposed wound...but the wound on its side was still open to damage; and Avion had planned for this by snatching another suitable makeshift weapon in her other talon. Hobbling around to the fallen devil's side, placing it between her and the other enemy, she carefully balanced herself on her free leg, hefted her spear high and drove it with force toward the exposed, glowing-hot flesh...

I apologize for the wait. Was busy with band and forgot about the match. >_>
-----
Thaussian rose up and let out a roar of annoyance. He shook the seared flesh from his body and stomped the ground in anger. He turned towards Valcanus and Avion. He watched as a spear-like piece of debris stabbed into Valcanus, who let out a snort of rage. Thaussian bellowed. It was his turn now...
The cyborg zombie stomped forward and activated his chainsaw. Once he was close enough, he slashed at the two in an arc, slicing into both of them in a painful attack. Valcanus staggered backwards while Avion flapped backwards. The spear dislodged itself from Avion pulling back and fell to the ground.
Thaussian snorted and grabbed Valcanus by the head. He then swung the demon beast towards Avion and let go, sending him staggering into the bird creature. Valcanus came down onto Avion, pinning her beneath his weight. Thaussian stared on as the two struggled to gain a footing.
Thaussian stood and awaited a response...

Pissed and puffing, Valcanus eagerly complied with Thaussian's wishes. He flipped over, swinging his tail through the air in case the cyborg might attempt a cheapshot at his backside, and latched onto Avion. Standing up and spinning around to face Thaussian, Valcanus heaved the avian guardian over his head, eyes aflame. The undead kaiju hardly knew how to react when Valcanus stomped forward and, with a powerful snarl, brought down Avion and literally beat Thaussian over the head with her. Thaussian shot straight down to the ground, followed shortly by Avion as Valcanus let go. Valcanus lifted his head and roared, lava geysers erupting behind him. Smoke continously poured from his spires- the charcoal colored blanket wafted over the ruined city, not only making his presence known, but surely suffocating the few unfortunate souls who had survived this long. Valcanus reached down, clamping his jaws on the back of Avion's neck and heaving her off Thaussian. Swinging his head, he tossed her aside, letting her fall limply to the ground with a crash. Now Valcanus set his eyes on Thaussian, laying prone with his metal cap severely dented. It's eyes were closed. Valcanus didn't know if it was unconscious, fatigued, or faking it. It didn't matter, though. With a thunderous bellow, he pointed both fists to the sky, letting loose a duo of magma columns beneath the monster's back. The pressurized geysers shot Thaussian off the ground, throwing him forward. For a moment the monster was upright, but like a falling redwood, the giant monster tipped forward and came crashing down the earth face-first, revealing the massive scorch marks on it's back. Valcanus stepped back and surveyed the damage he'd done... and with a devilish grin, decided it was a good opportunity to irritate his does by dashing their chances at a counterattack. He dropped to all fours, claws ablaze, and tore into the earth- rapidly boring through the soil and submerging under the ground. The earth shook softly as he disappeared beneath the surface, lying in wait where his prey could not strike him...

Shaking her head wearily, Avion slowly got back to her feet. The cluster of storm clouds continued to hover dutifully over the battlefield, not moving or increasing or dispersing until she gave the command...with a sigh, she called the clouds over to her location, allowing herself a brief, cool shower while she located her opponents and assessed the state of the field. Thaussian, the zombine creature, was laying upon the ruined ground a distance away; its charred and steaming flesh signifying that it had recently been the victim of Valcanus' ire.
As for Valcanus himself...
...Avion cocked her head quizzically as she turned round in place, scanning this way and that for a sign of the molten hellspawn; but it was nowhere to be seen--
--Wait a second.
Her eyes were suddenly drawn to a spot in the ground where it looked as if something massive had either dug its way up from or down into the earth. The air rippled and shimmered ever so slightly at the surface - the telltale sign of a heat-induced mirage.
...
Unable to quirk her beak into a grin, Avion simply gave a short huff of satisfaction as she looked up to the clouds above dousing her with rain. Her eyes went dim and hollow again as she concentrated, spreading her will like her wings to touch the whole scorched sky...
The clouds above moved over the pit where Valcanus had apparently buried itself...and more swelled up from seemingly nowhere to join the mass, increasing the tide of rain until it poured almost like the falls where her brother Pelagia resided. It might have seemed like a foolish and insignificant maneuver...but one had to bear in mind that dirt tended to swell and coalesce in the form of thick and sticky mud when combined with water. And that with both Valcanus and the masses of dirt he failed to completely displace filling the space of the pit, it would take much less water than normal to fill the remainder.
And, not to put too fine a point on it, the rain was pouring in vast quantity.
It wasn't long before the devil apparently realized what was happening, as the mud began to shift and quake...but Avion was not planning on having it escape so easily: while the tide fell, she had gone to locate a moderately-sized building, about as big as herself or one of her foes, proceeded to wrench it from the ground, shift it upside-down so the water would continue to flow down through its remains instead of being stopped by the roof or drainage pipes - and unceremoniously dropped the huge chunk of stone and metal over the top of Valcanus' once-refuge, hopefully soon to become its grave.
Shaking dirt and dust loose from her wings, the guardian chuckled satisfiedly to herself...then turned toward her other foe as she heard a weak groan, and saw it begin to try to rise again. Now, she had an opportunity to take a good look at the new participant in this war: sure enough, it looked undead in its appearance, with scorched and decaying flesh exposing portions of its bones...but it also bore parts that appeared to be made of metal. What particularly took her notice was a lengthy blade composed of dozens of small sharp teeth, that was actually capable of spinning and roaring to life, vastly improving its cutting ability: the thing could even grind through her armor if she allowed it to, saying nothing of her flesh.
...She'd just have to see that it didn't happen.
Now, how to begin her attack...if her understanding of living-dead creatures was as complete as she hoped, these monstrosities did not feel pain and would for the most part ignore any physical damage they suffered. So, unless there was some unholy artifact within this creature that gave it its life, she would have no choice but to completely obliterate it to keep it from rising and continuing to fight.
She gave a single nod to herself as the creature slowly got its feet back under it, its back facing her. She risked shifting her footing slightly to brace herself for her next move, as she curled and tensed her tail at her side, then twirled and whipped the limb out to catch and sweep Thaussian's feet right back out from beneath it, sending it sprawling forward to the ground. Before it could recover, she swiftly hopped over it to near its front side, then raised her armored wing high and thrust down hard, slamming the tip into the back of the undead creature's skull and smashing it into the asphalt. She kept up with a series of ruthless blows, crumpling the beast's facial armor and threatening to crush its decaying skull.
A foul-smelling substance began to bleed from the wounds it suffered, dribbling to the ruined ground beneath it...and starting to sizzle as soon as they touched. Avion huffed in aggravation, seeing that this creature too had some caustic fluid in place of blood, which made her task no easier. Standing back a few paces from the fallen zombie, she bowed her head and focused once more. Her eyes went dark, and more roiling storm clouds began to gather in a second mass, this time over her new enemy. But instead of rain, they had something much more punishing in store...the cumulonimbic mass writhed and churned upon itself as it grew more concentrated overhead, and Avion hunkered down into a roosting position, folding in her wings as she did.
The clouds strobed with a blinding flash, and the air split apart as a bolt of divine wrath seared down toward the offered sacrifice of Thaussian. It would know tenfold the pain it had visited upon Avion and Valcanus by shocking them as they sat in the water...

Thaussian suddenly sprang to life, rolling out of the way. The bolt smashed down into the earth, flinging medium sized pieces of debris onto the zombie cyborg. Thaussian rose up to his feet and shook the debris off. He was slightly dazed from the follow up assault, and shook his head. He turned and faced Avion, who had finally decided to attack him.
He would show her the mistake she just made.
Thaussian bellowed as his chainsaw roared to life. He stomped forward and raked his chainsaw across the beaked face of the stone giant. Stone and blood shot out from the wound as Avion screeched in pain and slammed down onto her side. Thaussian was not done there.
The cyborg zombie walked up to the bird and grabbed her by the neck. He lifted her up so that her face was close to his. A grin seemed to come across the cyborg's rotting mouth. Avion was not prepared for what was about to come. A loud rumble was heard as the corpse launchers unleashed their fury onto the face of the bird. Avion was pounded by debris and rotting chunks of flesh.
Thaussian examined the damage. Avion's face was messed up. Blood trickled from the various cuts and infected wounds on her face. She was lucky that her eyes were not damaged by the attacks. Avion was starting to lose air as well, for Thaussian still had her by the neck. She tried to cry out, but was unable to.
Thaussian finally swung his body around and tossed Avion, sending her hurtling towards a massive building...

Avion crashed into the building- but Thaussian never saw. Molten lava burst from below, ripping the earth apart as it rocketed towards the sky. A spire of magma struck the undead kaiju's chin, throwing it backwards in an explosion of ash and burnt skin. The zombie stumbled backwards, managing to keep it's footing- but not for long.
The muddy earth bubbled and heaved, intense heat rippling through the entire surface. The ground began to bake, cracking and splitting, it's muddy pools boiling away into a chalky mist. Brilliant orange light broke through as Valcanus exploded upwards, punching through with flaming fists and smoking spires. The demon launched himself on Thaussian, siezing the startled monster's shoulders with scorching-hot claws. With his body temperature raised to it's potent maximum, Valcanus' mere touch was excruciating- his red-hot grip began to burn through the skin, digging into the flesh beneath and sizzling it. He snarled, fireball eyes locked on Thaussian's face. He would break him.
CRASH, CRASH, CRASH, CRASH! Again and again, Valcanus hammered his rocky, flaming, horned skull into Thaussian's face- With each thunderous strike bits of volcanic rock and lava flew off, the terrible impact shaking the streets and making the victimized monster's undead muscles tense. Roaring dominantly and shoving Thaussian forward, Valcanus threw his foe through the air and onto his back with a crash. As the monster hit the ground, Valcanus spun around, his endless rage hungering for another outlet. He turned towards the spot where Avion had crash landed and, shaking the bone-dry mud from his tail, stomped towards her, leaving a trail of flaming footprints in his wake.
Valcanus stopped close to the ruined building, cooling down to a more stable temperature and glaring at the rubble that surrounded his other opponent. He knew not to get too close- the scrappy guardian probably had at least a little bit of fight left in it yet, and he wasn't about to walk right into it's next attack. Instead, Valcanus stood where he was. He clenched his fists, forming fireballs within them, and in rapid succession threw the two fistfulls of flame down at the pile. They blew apart on impact, showering the mess of colossus and debris with fire. Valcanus stood and watched, devilishly smug, as the flames began to spread and envelope Avion's fallen form. He took a step back, clearly pleased by the rising smoke and flame...

Coughing, Avion cursed the failure of her last attack...the lightning should have struck her foe, but somehow it moved with such speed as to evade the deadly strike, and then promptly returned her favor.
...Was it really so surprising, though? This creature had arrived only recently on the field of battle, and had the luxury of its opponents occasionally ignoring it in favor of each other. She, on the other hand, had been going toe-to-toe with the fiery devil for what felt like quite some time now...it only made sense that her new enemy still had quite a deal of strength left, while hers was wearing down.
Before she could muse any further, a pair of rapid explosions shook through the grave of rubble she rested in - and the following sensation of sporadic heat meant that fire had been ignited around and above her. If she didn't free herself quickly, she could very well burn to death.
'Nay. Not while my blood still flows.' Her eyes flashed.
Slowly, the pouring storm clouds overhead swelled and shifted as they began to billow toward their master. Valcanus hissed and shivered in irritation as the deluge of rain passed over it...and then snarled in surprise and sudden anger as it saw what was happening: the rain was dousing the fire it started, before it could begin to spread and consume its pestilent foe.
And as the flames fizzled out of existence, leaving nothing but acrid smoke and stench, the debris shifted and parted as the Bird of Prey rose once more, like the Phoenix from the ashes. Dripping with water and blood and sludgy soot, her eyes still glowed luminescent blue, shining with purpose through the smoke and shadows.....a symbol of light in the seemingly infinite darkness.
The devil snarled, its glowing ember eyes leering with the promise of death...but Avion sensed a minute hesitation. As if the beast was no longer sure of what it could do to put her down and keep her there. Black, choking smoke, and pale, glistening mist drifted and swirled around them, seeming to clash with one another for supremacy and survival as did the two forces they represented.
And only one would remain, when it all ended.
Valcanus' eyes narrowed, a glare burning with malice and fury...but also conveying the least hint of grudging respect, for an adversary that dared to brave its fire and rage.
Avion gave a single nod of her head, spreading her battered and bleeding wings, conveying her own final message: Come forth. Let there be an end.
Lightning flashed through the storming clouds above them, and thunder crashed in resonation.
And the end came.
Valcanus began with a vicious swipe of its superheated claw: Avion dodged back from the blow, her tail curling up at her side...then she hopped forward, twirled in midair and whipped the armored limb out in a swift, powerful sweeping blow that smashed the demon in the side of the head and caused its entire body to jerk sideways. In response, its own spiked tail lashed out to impale her: she crossed her wings before her, allowing the remaining armor to take the impact and letting the force behind the blow nudge her into a quick pirouette...then bringing one wing to bear as she came back around, catching the spurs of the tail and once again thrusting and slamming it into the monster's side, spikes piercing through its armor and exposed flesh and spilling founts of molten blood.
The slowly-recovering Thaussian could not clearly see the actions of its two enemies as they were enshrouded by the smoke and steam...only brief flashes of heat and shadows dancing against shadows gave any hint of the clash that was taking place.
Avion winced as spatters of burning blood scathed much too close for comfort, flying past and skimming her armor as Valcanus violently wrenched its own tail loose from its body. Asphalt melted and sizzled as magma dripped from the new wounds in the devil's body, and the steam billowing from its form grew ever thicker as its heat and anger rose...which left it unable to see as she lunged forward with a last, desperate assault: raising her wings on high, slamming and smashing its head down into the broken ground once, twice, thrice, leaping into the air and coming back down with a double-wing smash for the fourth blow, then lifting its abused cranium from the asphalt as she spread her wings wide one last time - and delivered the coup de grace, a final brutal crush between the instruments of flight.
The beast's skull sagged almost pathetically to the ground, the rest of its body soon joining it. Panting heavily, Avion staggered back a few paces, then fell heavily back onto her haunches, barely able to remain sitting upright. Her eyes flickered and dimmed as her strength waned. She hoped against hope that her final attack had done the devil in...because if it rose once again to finish her off, it would probably succeed this time.
