So, it can be safely assumed that not all of us were born out of the gate good Rpers. We had to hone our craft somewhere to get to where we are today, so what games lead everyone here to become the role player they are now?
The VAST majority of my role playing experience has come from a site called shootclub.com. It's a wrestling fantasy site that I've been involved with since late 2002 or so, though I was doing role plays before then, this is the place I did them consistently, and the place I truly honed my craft.
While cutting promos with fictitious wrestlers and writing out fights with fictitious Kaiju are two very different things, they share the same basic concepts, and I've always felt that one helps the other.
So, what are your stories?

Well...I rarely enter RPGs, and if I do, its not a long stay.
Really, I started to RP with my friend in AIM and have battles there. She was good...

My first online RPing was at the Toho Kingdom Arena back in mid-2005. Good times.
On a side note, good to see you here, yaburu.

I started RPing at a site called Jurassic Island, which I believe first showed up in 2001. Though it's creator made it to be a Jurassic Park fansite, most of the more intelligent members spent their time entirely in the RPG section, which was only vaguely related to JP. I made a lot of friends there and honed my skills over time. If the site's creator hadn't killed the site off in favor of making another site (which, coincidentally, we all hated) then I would probably still be RPing there today. But it was shut down, and I've been RPing at several sites since then trying to find one that was as good as JI.

My first RPG was none other than Monster Master's Godzilla: Future Destiny. Quite frankly, it had jack to do with Godzilla (he was in maybe three threads), but the ongoing storyline was so great. And we had everything in it. Aliens, Predators, Terminators, Final Fantasy, Evangelion, The Halo Covenant, Doom, Resident Evil, Zoids. All those, plus other kaiju and much much more. It was a great RPG, shame it died.

My first was the reason I started frequenting kaiju forums. Started with the truly amazing Godzilla: Battlefield Earth and its successor, Shattered Future at TK, until they died on me...but dang, were they amazing. I still sucked balls at writing back then, so I decided to go and haunt Omega's Kaiju Wars: New Dawn next. Heh...I wonder how many people got insanely pissed at my four-line RP posts. After that, I kinda went on hiatus till the end of '06...before coming back to here and Omega's KWET with a vengeance.

My first RPG was back in 1999 and was a pokemon one. It was none other then legendary island. Although five people joined, only myself and a girl named Alana ever posted. I really sucked back then. But hey, I was only six. That was when I formed my pokemon team which I now use in all my pokemon RPGs.
My first kaiju RPG was OR's Kaiju Wars: New Dawn. In which I established my Mecha-Rex.

I think I first started out with play-by-post roleplaying at the TK Arena. I fought one of the most experienced combatants there at the time and beat him on my first go.
After that, it was Godzilla: Battlefield Earth, and my own Kaiju Wars: New Dawn.
Since then, I've participated in various and sundry RPGs, usually for as long as they last.

I arena'd alot at TK and other sites, and also did alot of Pokemon RP'ing too. Havn't done any "serious" Kaiju RP'ing outside Arena's though.
Also, just recently I joined OR's KWET, and that seems to be alotta fun.

Erm... People may not believe me... but I didn't RP much before KWET, Tohokingdom's Arena (could never win a match there...), and this here Arena.
Sure, I played a Dungens & Dragons game here and there, but not enough to actually hold a good RPing streak... I just have a knack for RPing I guess... considering how 'well' I've done... *stares down at the carpet*

I first started out at the Arena. It's actually where I made best buds with people here today. It was amazing back then, but it seems to have died down.
Then I went on to Godzilla: Battlefield Earth. This is where my RPing began to bloom. I took over multiple monsters when people never posted, which further improved my skills. Gotta thank AnguirusGuy and Rogue for that RPG. ;D
I then went to KW:ND, which flourished for quite the time. After it shut down, I jumped around to multiple ones (I even checked out a zoid RPG, which surprisingly, Logmon had found first). Now I sit at this site and KW:ET.

...*wistful sigh*...Oh, where did it all begin...
(Foreword: I'm about to get long-winded and rambling here. For those who don't wanna sit down and listen, I'd just like to say hey 'yall. PCZ from Toho Kingdom here, if it's not already apparent. Unless you can make introductory topics here, consider this my greeting.)
Well, I didn't really start out with Godzilla roleplaying...I don't even know if it was actual roleplaying in any sense; but back when I was but a poo-diapered nooblet who wasted his time annoying the hell out of the Perfect Dark Social forum on GameFAQs, we used to have threads that supposedly simulated the deathmatch/Combat Simulator in the game Perfect Dark. We'd just blow the ever-lovin' sh!+ out of each other in the most gruesome and outlandish ways possible, respawn and have at it again. I particularly remember one good-natured individual who cut his hapless foe's stomach open, pulled the end of his intestine out and wound it around the barrel of a gatling gun, then cranked the sumbitch on and shredded me with it while disemboweling the other poor bastard at 4000 RPM...good times, good times.
Then...I'll confess, though I used to watch MechaGodzilla '74 and perhaps others at a friend's house when I was a tot, I never really started getting into Godzilla until Destroy All Monsters Melee came out on the GameCube, and I happened to see Toonami's review of it.(I was helplessly hooked on Dragon Ball Z, maybe also Zoids at the time.) And my subconscious memory must have looked back fondly on those days when I watched Showa Mecha-G spamming his infinite ammo cheat against Goji, because something just clicked when I beheld the game MechaGodzilla pounding his fists together.
Still surfing GameFAQs at the time(I still go there today, but mostly just to lurk and check the GameSpot news), I started visiting the DAMM forum, and from there found my way to a humble kaijuu-fighting forum called Kaiju Senso: The New ARena.(Spelt that way on purpose. AR = Always Ready.) That was in late September of '03, and I spent nearly two wondrous, blood-and-coolant-soaked years honing the skills I carry now.....well, ok, I wasn't really a serious RP'er yet, I just played for the fun of it and the hell with actually developing any talent. 'Sides, I was still something of a noob and foolish enough to think I could take on one of the best warriors the place had to offer: Gojira64.
The Black Death's finest is still 0 for 3 against the Juggernaut Elite.(I'll let you figure out what the hell that means.)
Alas, no good things can last. By the time of the first, last, and only official ARena Tournament I ever got to compete in(made it to the semifinals, where I earned my third loss to G64), the Senso was apparently suffering from the same deal the Toho Kingdom Arena is suffering now: general lack of competent warriors. Most of the veterans were retiring from the field of war, and many of the rookies just didn't have the grit to stick it out. Of course, the fact that we were suffering something of a management crisis(one of the head admins just up and disappeared since about the start of the tournament, sometime in late '04 or early '05 I think...and he's probably not been heard from ever since) didn't help, either.
So after that, we tried rather unsuccessfully to jump ship and head to Toho Kingdom.....and, though I don't think myself to blame for the ill will that sparked between the Kingdom and the Senso, I would like to sincerely apologize in any case. 'Twas just our own pride in the way we spilled each other's blood that fouled everything up. I am sorry.
...And, in some way, I am even sorrier that I cared more about the fight itself than the people I fought alongside. June 7, '05, I more or less left the floundering Senso and began eking out my meager existence in Toho Kingdom, just hoping I wouldn't make any enemies. Shortly into my time there, I was referred by THE GODZILLA to the Battlefield Earth RPG. I joined up there - late in its own life apparently, as seemed to be the case with Kaiju Senso - and fought a grand total of two battles, one of which was never finished and the other I was forced to flee before getting my ass trounced by four other monsters, before the game was changed to Shattered Future. And ultimately crashed and burned before even my first battle with AnguirusGuy could be finished.
And now, after having fought my way to the Kingdom's Mechanical Championship, bitterly losing shots at both the Arena and Tag-Team titles through my own carelessness, successfully defending the Mech. title once and being now on the cusp of keeping it again or losing it...here I am.
'Much as it pains me to do so, I will probably abandon the Kingdom's Arena after my latest title defense is decided. As far as I'm concerned, it's suffering the same fate as Kaiju Senso before it: all the warriors are left, and nothing but wannabes to take their place. *sigh*...
...I feel like quoting a good Mega Man X fanfic I've read, a novelization of X2. The anonymous Maverick Hunter who dies at X's side in the opening scene of the game:
"The life of a Hunter is often short and filled with woe...but God, is it a ride."

I started RPing in 2001 on MSN Communities; specifically Final Dragonball Z RPG, one of the longest standing DBZ RPGs on MSN. I also moved on to several E-feds (wrestling RPGs) around 2002-2004/5. Then I picked up RPing again in OR's KW:ND.
I've been doing one-on-one AIM RPGs since 2002. I also occasionally right original fanfiction, or fanfiction from various media (including my pride-and-joy Kaiju Girls fanfic).
