So yeah, I'm gonna be opening up a Zoids RPG in the near future.
The story is set 10 years after the events of Zoids: New Century Zero (the one with Liger Zero and the Blitz team and all that), and revolves around the same Zoid Competitions that the series did.
Players will start out with just enough money to buy a small Zoid, and well earn money and increase their rank by defeating opponents in official matches.
That's about it. I'm working on the Zoid stats right now, but beyond that I've got absolutely nothing done for it. Several people here have already helped with ideas via AIM, but not all of us are on at the same time so we can't always get together and chat about it. So that's why I'm making this thread. Got an idea? Post it here. Please.

What's the deal with teams? I know they were a major part of the series. Also, what about any Backdraft esque groups?

I'd definetly like to see teams...
I know that usually an Organoid is involved for this (of which there were none in New Century Zero), but maybe consider a sort of level up and evolution systems?
... Ok, scrap the level up system, that just strikes me as unneeded right now... but I would really want to see an evolution system implemented. I could live without it though, I'm a zoids fan so it makes little difference to me (And yes, I do like Fuzors, even though I didn't see much of it [And honestly, I barely remember any of it... *sweatdrop*])
And now that I think about it, maybe not a level up system for zoids, but for their pilots AKA the players, and base the evolution system on that...
Again, I can live with out it... but if you do consider at least one of my ideas, maybe we could see the use of Fuzors? If I had to have just one, I would want to see the Fuzors most.

What's the deal with teams? I know they were a major part of the series. At first, it'll just be individuals. Depending on how many members it gets, teams will either be different members each controlling their own Zoid, or single members controlling multiple Zoids. Maybeh. Again, I can live with out it... but if you do consider at least one of my ideas, maybe we could see the use of Fuzors? If I had to have just one, I would want to see the Fuzors most. Sorry, not gonna do Fuzors. I'm not even gonna include Blox Zoids, save maybe a couple like Lord Gale. It'd make things too complicated. As for "leveling up," you'll be able to upgrade any of your Zoids, if you want to think of that as leveling them up.

Like I said, I could live without it, so not much of a dissappointment. On the second account, I figured you were going to do something like that, so...
It all works out in the end...
*grumbles to self about how worthless Lord Gale was in Zoids: Battle Legends, prefering things like Geno Breaker and Geno Hydra*
Um, concerning weapons, will some Zoids (like the saurians I so fervently adore) be limited to about two or three weapons, or will the be able to equip a lot of them... say like... 1/2 to 3/4 of the amount of weapons Leena managed to put on her Gun Sniper? (Obviously at the cost of speed) And will copies of the same item be allowed to improve strength... like two shield generators for about 50% increase in efficiency at the cost of more energy demands?
*apologizes for being nozy*

I haven't worked out all the specifics yet, but it's going to be pretty open as to how you can customize your Zoids. The main limit will be money. For example, MM intends to make an uber pimped out Molga with freakish amounts of weaponry. And he'll be able to do it. It'll just cost him an ungodly amount of money. No problem. It's nice to see it getting some attention, heh.

If there aren't too many limits... I'll probably pull a Leena with a Geno Breaker (or, if allowed, a Berserk Fury) *Thinks of seeing an Uber 'WTF' heavily armed Molga, starts to laugh, then stops, realizing just how big a threat it could potentially be.* The most under appreciated Zoid potentially becoming a full blown killer... Scary... I like your way of thinking, MM... most of the time... Zoids never get enough attention in my eyes. *smiles mischievously as he plots for what he thinks will be the ultimate zoid*

So what are some of the zoids that we can start out with?
Man, I can't wait to get ahold of a spinosapper or maybe a warshark.

Some of the starting Zoids'll be the Rev Raptor, Guysack, Zabat, Pteras, Demantis, Godos, Molga, Sinker, and Stealth Viper.

Ah, I wasn't forsure if Rev Raptor would be one of the starting zoids or not. But the rest of those on the list I was pretty sure they would be starting zoids. Boy, it's been a long time since I watched zoids. . .

If I recall when discussing with IR about starting zoids, we are more thna likely NOT going to be having different levels of zoids. What does that mean? Not much. Everything is going to be separated by money, meaning some zoids are going to cost a lot more than others. But buying a strong zoid with all your money at the beginning may be a disadvantage. Why?
Well, let's put it this way. I have $5,000. A Guysack costs $3,000. A Command Wolf costs $5,000. What does this mean? The person who buys the Command Wolf has no leftover money. But the person who gets the Guysack will have $2,000 leftover, and has the chance of buying weapons right at the start to upgrade his or her zoid.
See where I'm getting at? And yes, I'm helping IR out with this RPG, and so is SW. All help is appreciated, as IR is doing A LOT, and it would be nice to take some stuff off of his shoulders.

Yep, I see where you were getting at. I just wasn't forsure since if I remember correctly in New Century Zero, the teams had ranks or leveled circuits or something like that so I wasn't forsure if we needed to be on both a certain rank and enough money or if we just needed enough money to buy a zoid. And I am willing to help whenever possible.

Well, I figured the Command Wolf might be up for a starting Zoid, since it is pretty basic.

Not really, Brad's Command Wolf, despite being 'basic' was pretty darn useful for a lot of fights... if I recall correctly...
Another thing, will there be repair costs that are taken out of the winnings to repair the Zoids?
